Petrov and Boshirov

Post by The Enclosure » Thu Sep 13, 2018 1:27 pm

Do you believe that they were tourists and just sightseeing in Salisbury or do you believe the British Government's allegations?

Old Petty and Boshy sound like a couple of stand up guys. Seems like they were just doing a bit of sightseeing and found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. They must be gutted that the weather prevented them from even seeing the cathedral. I hope once all this has blown over the UK government recompense them with an all-expenses paid trip during the summer months so that they can enjoy all that the beautiful city has to offer.

They flew into London and travelled to Salisbury just o look at the Cathedral and left quickly at the same time as the poisonings. OK then.

I agree with Rileybobs.
A couple of Government chaps (say from around the Vauxhall Bridge area) should accompany this pair of innocents on a personal sightseeing tour of (the very beautiful) Salisbury Cathedral spire. I believe the view from up there is moving and makes the spirits fly; but then, of course, the esteemed Russian civilians would have to come back down to earth and face reality head-on.

This is certainly as believable as when Lugovoi and Kovtun were just enjoying a nice cup of tea with Litvinenko at a London hotel but were nothing to do with the poisoning at that time.

Anyone who had any doubt that it was the Russians will be struggling now to think it was anyone else now.

Quite impressive though as it shows the control that Putin has over Russia is that he knows he can do this kind of thing completely without any fear of any internal repercussions getting to him.

Not really, that London hotel doesn’t have a 123m high spire - Salisbury Cathedral does. Who wouldn’t want to see a 123m high spire?

The recommenced time for a visit is about 3 hrs, however it does say if you are in a hurry most of the important things can be seen in 45mins. This falls in line with the speed touring that has replaced speed dating. Of course to get a handle on it you need to be quick and not lose your bottle.

I'm currently in Russia and it was on the news last night but the 3rd or 4th story, there are other big news going on here about pension reforms and meeting the Chinese PM. The pension reforms here have made people a bit upset.

It sort of makes me want to go to Salisbury, just to check out the cathedral. There'll be a Novichok tour by next summer.

Haha- seen a translation of their interview in The Telegraph now- totally unbelievable - stuff about having gone to Salisbury to visit The Cathedral & Stonehenge etc (and having come all the way from Russia for that, being put off by a bit of slush and just having a walk round and returning to London on the train).

They say they're in "the fitness industry" but cant be very specific about exactly what.
I guess it's something like: seeing if people are fit enough to withstand a dose of Novichok.

As Lancaster said above though- shows how easily Putin can & does get his way when these two can wheel out such a crap and unbelievable account of themselves without fear of it being ridiculed inside Russia.

Putin's popularity has dropped massively recently from 83% to 67%. Don't think that the story is being ridiculed by the people in Russia in general conversations.

If there weren’t dead and ill people involved, I’d have found this hilarious.

The bit about Russians being put off because of a bit of slush.
The bit about coming to Europe to search for biologically active additives.
The bit about maybe approaching the house in question but they didn’t know who lived there.

These guys are either a pair of trained assassins or jokers of the standard of Laurel and Hardy.

It is fairly obvious that there are holes in there story I can’t for the life of me work out why it isn’t more polished they have had enough time to sort it unless as said above they don’t care if it is believed or not. The problem for me is that our side of things aren’t entirely hole free either but are our holes created by guesswork and not knowing or lies.

If they really are spies/agents, they really are more than a bit crap at it and should be seriously thinking about a fresh career. Jonny English would have done a better job of covering his tracks.

Two Russion blokes on a tourist trip to Salisbury and back...Sounds odd with the first 3 words.

Still they have put the Cathedral spire back on the tourist trail and the original clock...with no hands.

As mentioned above, they forgot the Magna Catmrta original. Oddly, they never went to Stonehenge! Can't think of another tourist in the world, travelling that far, that would not have travelled on to Stonehenge!

They didn't do that badly. Almost killed Mr Skripal (& they won't give a toss about the collateral damage re Ms Skripal and the couple (Dawn & Charlie?). They got out of the country without being detained - and so will never face trial for what they did.
They probably succeeded in putting the frighteners on a few Putin dissenters around the world who now cant feel out of reach because they've left Russia.

On the down side: their careers as operatives outside of Russia are now over - but theyve probably done well enough to get a decently comfortable retirement. Most importantly, though, their chances of ever seeing Stonehenge or Salisbury Cathedral are now scuppered and that will really hit them bad.

I think we are all missing the point about the slush in Salisbury. These guys had come from Moscow. They were expecting at least 6 inches of snow. Slush just wasn't worth their efforts in visiting.

Anyway, where do your friends keep recommending you visit? I'm sure we can but a great list together for any future visitors.

It used to be free to enter Stonehenge it's now run by an organised crime syndicate fleecing the tourists of their money selling tat and charging £20 + to visit the actual site which is surrounded by high fencing and security...they did well to avoid it.

When I was there 2015.....they had rearranged the landscape with earth diggers etc so it was invisible to passing traffic. It can't be seen from any B Road as far as I'm aware.

Yes the fork off the A303, which ran alongside Stonehenge and to the car park and Old visitor centre was closed and the road was dug up and centre and car park removed. The new visitor centre is very busy.

The view from the A303 is pretty decent, as you whizz past or sit in a traffic jam!

Just to help out with the video times and having arrived in Salisbury to find that on winter time table Church closes at 4pm so they could not get in and had to come back on another date and time. so possibly after having seen it but not been in the following day they maybe only went in came out and decided to take a walk whilst waiting for return train, all plausible now.

Anyone thinking of visiting Salisbury - don't be put off!

The Cathedral is still the tallest spire in the UK, there are loads of great pubs and restaurants, some good shopping and there really aren't that many poisonings - especially when compared to Ukraine

You can see Stonehenge for free from the A303 or by walking from Woodhenge- or just borrow a National Trust or English Heritagr membership card

It's a bloomin' long way from Turf Moor though
