Which household item should make a comeback ?

Just reading some news items and this one jumped out at me.
For me the chip maker. What a tool, peel the spud drop it in pull the handle, perfect chips. Then into the chip pan, another icon ( ok for health and safety reasons make a cupboard with a built in breathalyser so you cant open it after a session.) so much better then oven chips or the sanitised frozen chips lowered into a deep fat fryer. There are no better chips. My mum RIP made the best chips ever with such items.
Maybe a fondue kit ?
Whats yours ?

Don't chipshops generally still fry their chips? I agree with you though as my late mum also fried them. You can often tell when food is frozen.

You didn't want to meet her, she was fat, round, and and took some cleaning after you had used her.

Little TVs with only one station & containing a huge amount of hardwood that you could build a modern sideboard with.

Racks (clothes dryers) that you hoisted up to the ceiling near the coal fire in the kitchen via a cunning array of pulleys. (cheaper than tumble dryers- although your clothes ended up smelling of food that had been cooking, usually chipfat).

Those huge sinks in the alcove in the kitchen that you could bath in up to about age 7.

Hand-powered whisks - fun job for kids and lower running costs compared to modern fancy mixers.

Probably off topic, but seeing as they were a fixture in our house - Astin's meat pies

Those sandwich toasters which put lines on your cheese and tomato toasty and then burnt the roof of your mouth off.

Character building.

Another vote here for the mangle but also the washboard. Use it to scrub your clothes and then with a sewing thimble go and join a skiffle group.

Good old-fashioned doorbell.

With a big brass button, waterproofed brass housing that can be heard anywhere inside the house as well as outside when it’s pressed

Not these new plastic radio ones that run out of batteries and interfere with the neighbours bells. I cant do with going to peoples houses and pressing the bell and your not sure if it even rang or not.
