I would say so now, and for my health and sanity I'm going to accept it and try and
enjoy what's left of the season.
Saves a lot of anxiety and heartache in the long run.

Cannot see how we are going to get 8 wins from 19 games when that’s the same we managed in the entirety of 2018.
It’s looking Great Escape worthy already.

Don't think people burying their heads in the sand and blindly claiming that there are 3 or 4 worse teams than us when all evidence points to the contrary does anyone any favours either.

Re: Are we down?
Of course we are, even Cardiff are showing us up for what we are....doomed
Re: Are we down?
We are not down, we're going to fight all the way and we're going to do twice as good in the second half of the season as we did in the first half. It might be wishful thinking but it beats giving up on it in my head. I'm sick of feeling down about it, we've half a season to go and I believe we have what it takes to do it. Positive mental attitude and all that. Not giving up yet. Refuse to.
Re: Are we down?
I've been saying all season we are the worse team I've seen in the league. We can have no complaints if we are bottom which is probably our rightful place. We've got what we've deserved on the whole. Unlucky not to get a point at Spurs but v lucky with the win against Cardiff and v Hudds. There's no evidence it will change. Anything less than a win tomorrow and Garlick needs to be making some pro active decisions instead of just resting on his laurels.

You “downers” continue to keep telling yourselves that we are going down all you like meanwhile the rest of us can just relax and take things as they come.

Re: Are we down?
Look at it this way. If we beat West Ham tomorrow we then have Huddersfield and Fulham. Beat West Ham and we take that momentum into the next two games so we have a decent chance of winning. Sure, I'm looking at this very optimistically but a win tomorrow could create the momentum and up the morale which will help us win two of the biggest games of the season in Huddersfield in Cardiff. If we (somehow) get 3 wins out of 3 here which is possible, we'll be on 21 points and I think we'll have a better chance staying up if we are looking at the teams below us more than the ones above. These next three games define our season imo. 7 points and we're in with a shout. 4 points or less and we are gone.

Re: Are we down?
A good friend of mine who has been a long standing Season Ticket holder at Crystal Palace said he was shocked at how poor we were that afternoon, and that we were probably the worst team that he had seen for several seasons of going down to Selhurst Park.
Results and performances since then have sadly only confirmed his opinion.

Re: Are we down?
I'm not surprised. We were awful that day - probably our worst showing this season. We followed that with three spirited performances (but no points) and then back to our poor display on Boxing day. I'm completely at a loss why we're so poor against sides we might have a chance to beat (and where more often than not we concede early goals). It's got to be a mentality thing.kentonclaret wrote:A good friend of mine who has been a long standing Season Ticket holder at Crystal Palace said he was shocked at how poor we were that afternoon, and that we were probably the worst team that he had seen for several seasons of going down to Selhurst Park.

I think when we're not quite on it we look worse than Sunderland in 16/17.
Long way to go yet and we have a lot of bottom rivals to face at home - but we desperately need to win those now.
Re: Are we down?
Going down ? ....probably!...any excuses ?....no.........we are one of the bottom three poorest sides (so sad to say this )......think the team needs to be let off the leash and allowed to "express themselves"....no i dont know anything about coaching shape framework strong chins or financial tables .....just like to see the players give 100 per cent and come off happy for a change .....any January incomings should (in my opinion ) be young/ fast /technically gifted ....for the future..
Re: Are we down?
I think we are now favourites.
If you ask Cardiff who the worst team they have played this season they would say Burnley.
Ask Fulham - ditto
Ask Huddersfield - ditto
Ask Newcastle - ditto.
I have seen Southampton a few times and they have been better than us this year.
These are the bottom teams and they all look better than us.
Of course it can all change if we start to play anything like last season - but there is very little sign of this so far and to stay up we need a big improvement and a lot of f’in luck.

not if we lose our next couple of games . Dyche sounds like a rather proud man and hes always said he will go on his terms . I think he would rather resign than be sackedboatshed bill wrote:I think our best chance of staying up would be a change of manager, unlikely to happen IMO.

If he holds himself in any way responsible for our poor performances? He's more likely to blame "fine margins"Reecey1987 wrote:not if we lose our next couple of games . Dyche sounds like a rather proud man and hes always said he will go on his terms . I think he would rather resign than be sacked
I really do wonder why it's all going so wrong. Were we just lucky last season?

Re: Are we down?
Looking at it realisticly...not many on here will, the form we are in and our points total suggest to me we have no chance of staying up,along with the current other bottom two.
Re: Are we down?
I suppose it depends on how lucky teams can really be. Were Leicester lucky to win the league?boatshed bill wrote:If he holds himself in any way responsible for our poor performances? He's more likely to blame "fine margins"

Re: Are we down?
not too much luck involved with us last year, we just defended like dogs. This season we haven't. Results deffo went for us last season though, when we lost so did Leicester etc, this season they are going against us - but I'm a firm believer that you make your own luck and the way we've played we haven't been deserving of much of it

We really do need to stop rewarding failure; long contracts for starters. We've been poor for 12 months and no-one has taken the blame or responsibility for it.Spijed wrote:I suppose it depends on how lucky teams can really be. Were Leicester lucky to win the league?

Do premier league managers resign anymore ?Reecey1987 wrote:not if we lose our next couple of games . Dyche sounds like a rather proud man and hes always said he will go on his terms . I think he would rather resign than be sacked
Dyche might be proud but he ain’t stupid. He’s not going to give up £10m for the sake of his pride.
If / when he leaves it will be by “mutual consent” - which means basically that we will have reached a financial agreement re his contract.
Personally I think this is what will happen in May as SD will want to move onto another challenge and our board will be happy to agree to this rather than keep a manager who no longer wants to be here.

Re: Are we down?
Huddersfield was a must win to stay up. After today's results tomorrow is as well.
We have been the worst team over half the season but still have enough time to turn it around. The only problem is not one player is performing to their best which is needed for them to play at this level.

Re: Are we down?
Dyche won't get his full contract paid up unless we're stupid. He will get his monthly wage until he gets another managers job unless he turns them down.
But Dyche wouldn't get another decent job if he waited the 4 and a half years until his contract run down.

No, but we have our best players injured or out of form and are playing really badly. Up to the players to turn it around and three points tomorrow will go a long way to cheering everyone up.

He is on a large contract but i'll be amazed if a huge proportion of it isn't performance related like it is with the playersQuickenthetempo wrote:Dyche won't get his full contract paid up unless we're stupid. Considering what's on the line (relegation clauses etc) I find it astonishing that nobody hands out bollockings, nobody looks to encourage etc - we don't have enough leaders to scrap I fear (I hope they prove me wrong though)Lancasterclaret wrote:No, but we have our best players injured or out of form and are playing really badly. Re: Are we down?
We are in the bottom 3 and going downhill, the teams above ourselves are all going upwards and are looking better now than at the start of the season.
This scenario will probably be replicated in the forthcoming transfer window.
The board in conjunction with M Rigg will probably ( if they have any sense) realise this and act accordingly.
ie ;- get rid of who we can ( big wages ) and try and get some young blood in for a new campaign next season.

Re: Are we down?
Good grief reading some of your posts on this thread anyone would think we are bottom and about 10 points behind the next team with four games to go.
We have 19 games to go or a possible 57 points to play for so do calm down for Petes sake and get things in proportion.
