No chance we just need Sean to start trusting in his reserves
Re: Are we down?
Honestly it's fickle fans like you we can do without - we'd just lost to two of the best sides in the division. There's nothing to discuss. Get a grip.

Re: Are we down?
No, we’ve got the January transfer window. Couple of old lads in the Cheshire / Staffs area that are up for it and can do a job. We’ll be fine.
Re: Are we down?
No we're not. And probably won't be this season. But keep failing to improve the starting XI and it will next season.
Re: Are we down?
We've lost 6 of the last 8 conceding 20 goals - no problem with that ?

How much is their team worth? And playing to impress their new manager. What did you all expect?
Think it’s time for fans to be supportive and please stop all the negative threads. Move on. Newcastle next!

What LCP said above - unfortunately for us the change of manager came a few weeks too early for our visit.

Re: Are we down?
The result today won’t define our season, neither will the 1-4 loss to City, it’s the teams around us that make or break the season and if we’ll stop up. The manner of defeat vs city and today is heart wrenching, course it hurts, but bounce back and beat Newcastle next week it will put us on 21pts, half way to the magical 40pts. We still have to play a lot of teams around us so keep the faith.

Re: Are we down?
Yes, I'm very down after watching that
Re: Are we down?
Getting 0 points against City and Spurs is not the problem. It's a reality. Conceding 9 goals and not showing for two gameweeks in a row is a massive problem.
Need to bounce back as soon as possible. We need at least 7 points from the next five games to keep the gap between the relegation zone. Start of the calendar year look deadly - after FA cup game we play Leicester, Chelsea, United and Arsenal.

Re: Are we down?
3 points against the Geordies next week and the outlook will be very different,we are sitting 13th which is about where i''d expect us to be,blimey it's only a couple of weeks ago people where talking about a European tour, once we get our first choice 11 on the pitch we'll be fine,a right bunch of doommongers on here as per when we hit a rough patch,we've lost to Palace who under Hodgson are our bogey side,Man City who scored 2 wonder strikes, and Spurs who reached the CL final only 6 months ago,and have some of the top players in Europe, the encouragement is in the Palace and Spurs games we still created chances, yes we do need to tighten up but we've kept 5 clean sheets, and against the lesser sides are more than capable of picking up enough wins,to achieve our main objective.

Tiger76; your accurate brand of reality really isn't required on this thread. Fans with limited intestinal fortitude and the backbone of a kipper come on here to feel sorry for themselves amongst the similarly disposed, not to be told the facts of life by you. Please find another thread to give vent to your upbeat opinions and leave these poor souls alone, (they think) they've suffered enough already.

I didn't once say I wanted to lose every week. I merely meant that there's no need to stop backing the team because we've lost to some quality sides whilst we're struggling with injuries. People are too quick to start complaining, look how far we have come as a club. People need to remember where we were 10 years ago and continue to appreciate what we have now - too many of you with expectations above reality.
As for calling me a clown, grow up will you.

We never learn do we. Go on some of the post-watford game threads and see how the sentiment shifts in a universal way after clusters of games. It's hilarious. Dyche is lauded and sacked about 5 times a season on here.

Re: Are we down?
I think it's pretty certain that if Newcastle's equivalents of Kane, Son and Alli play like the Tottenham versions did on Saturday, we'll get beat. I suppose we can cling to the hope that Amiron, Joelintion, and Maximin won't play to that level?

Re: Are we down?
I think there's quite a good chance that they won't, seeing as they aren't as good.
Re: Are we down?
Sant maximin is not likely to play. He's injured and he[*]s the only one of that trio that is ever likely to score. Decent player.
It's the centre backs suddenly appearing in the box unmarked that we should worry about.

Re: Are we down?
I don't think anyone is too bothered that we lost mate, it's the way we rolled over and got absolutely hammered in both games. We just don't seem to have the stomach for a fight with the top guys, and that is a worry slightly. Other teams with similar aspirations to us are at least occasionally getting the odd point or even a win off the big six but we are so far off the mark it's a bit embarrassing. At the moment when we play one of the top sides I'm happy if we keep it down to 4, and that should never be.

Re: Are we down?
To be fair I would have thought SD was saving the touch and go lads for this next little run of games. With all the will in the world there was little chance of us beating a rejuvenated Spurs, therefore an extra weeks rest and target Newcastle / Bournemouth was the sensible thing to do. Crap for the 3,000 Clarets who witnessed that mauling, but hopefully it will be proved to have been the correct decision.

Re: Are we down?
I think comparing Newcastle to Spurs is a little defeatist bud. Their best players are not in the same league as Tottenham's. We are pretty damn good when all our players play to their full potential as well.

This goes to show that even with a massive intellect sometimes stating the obvious is not so obvious.

Re: Are we down?
We've had a couple of off weeks, prior to that we were bang in form doing well in the league? In the past we've beaten sides like City and United - it's just when we have a few bad weeks (which as I've said above are more than likely due to injuries/suspensions) the same people are on here going into meltdown - it's a miracle we can perform in this league at all, a few off weeks are to be expected. That's my point.houseboy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:22 amI don't think anyone is too bothered that we lost mate, it's the way we rolled over and got absolutely hammered in both games. Re: Are we down?
Looking at it logically I don't see any reason to get jittery about a home game against Newcastle. We have been doing pretty well this season generally albeit with the usual maulings from the big sides. Newcastle are not City or Spurs or Chelsea, they are not dissimilar to us and we have home advantage, plus old Dychey boy will have put a bit of a rocket up their collectives after the last two games. I think we will be fine for this one. I promise if we lose I'll start worrying but if not I'll be fine.
Re: Are we down?
Where's the "Dyche out" party hiding this week? Funny how they disappear when we win a game.

Re: Are we down?
After the win over Newcastle, the reality is that 5 wins and a couple of draws will
give us 38 points, which has been more than enough for the last few seasons.
Norwich and Watford can only dream of such a target.
We`ll be fine.

I think we will stay up but i haven't got a clue how based on this dross on show every week. I'd just be happy with a few shots on target and a bit of excitement tbh its just so poor at the minute its painful to watch
Re: Are we down?
I do believe that this time round we are
going to be in trouble and could well go down.
I hate to say it but unlike last year when we brought back Heaton, started McNeil and turned it round I don’t think anything similar is likely to happen this time round.
I doubt we’ll bring in anyone in January and Dyche will believe in himself too much.
Certainly if I were a betting man I would consider putting money on us. The odds are changing me thinks. A few weeks ago they were very much different. Now I suspect the best you’re likely to get are evens.
