Call me old fashioned, but i remember when people used to get paid by a business, or volunteer for a charity. Asking for volunteers for a multi million pound business just seems a little on the cheeky side tbh

What next, volunteer programme sellers? Where does it end?

Its not like the savings are going on the playing squad is it?

So the first criteria for people who volunteer is to not be at all interested in football or BFC because they'll see little or nothing of the match! BUT, they need to have a passion for standing around in the rain and the cold! That's just weird.
Anyway this time next season we'll be in the Championship with gates of around 11,000 so they'll not be needed anyway!!

They only work for the employee if you're a single parent with child care problems or have two jobs. They are a disgrace and give people no job security whatsoever. They are, in fact, just a way of getting around employment laws. Disgracefull.

When did Burnley FC become such a penny pinching bunch of scoundrels? We aren't a bloody charity, we are a very wealthy PL football club, how can they even have the gall to ask people to work for nothing? If we were back in League Two and potless I ciould understand it but this is unacceptable.

They are not used in the right way and the uncertainty of hours from one week to the next gives employers a massive edge in terms of they can use the potential lack of hours the following week in order to play ball with them. It's happened to me many times.

There is no dressing this up as anything but very poor. Even if they paid minimum wage its not going amount to much for a few hours every home game.

As much as I think its a nice incentive, from an employment point of view, theres no real benefit other than some free training that could go on a CV I suppose. Looks a bit of a **** take to me. We are a Premier League outfit. I cant see how this is a need for 30, I think you only 'need' 7 per match day from 3 hours before KO.

I mean, i don't like to assume that sometimes people on the non-footballing side don't know their arse from their elbow, but sometimes they really do make it difficult not to work on that basis.

Something I wouldn't have known, but I've been told today that it is illegal to post a JOB description for voluntary work.

I certainly don’t think the club would have a leg to stand on if one of their ‘volunteers’ pursued payment through the courts. You cannot make voluntary work look like a job.

It's something I don't know anything about but the person who told me this afternoon was very confident the club had broken the law in advertising in such a way.
