It'll never happen, but imo we need a drastically different approach.

The 'hang in and try and nick a goal' approach clearly isn't working and imo now need to approach the game trying to be on the front foot and to take control of the game.

Hence playing the extra man in the middle, so there's always a spare man for a pass, rather than passing it back to a CB that then lumps it upfield,rinse and repeat.

However they'll have to work hard to get up and down the pitch, but I'm confident that they could.

McNeil, JBG and Hendrick are the only ones not afraid of trying to play positive and again have to play.

Vydra looks lively and like a clever player; trying to drop in and find space. I'm just not sure he could play up top on his own or in the 'false 9' role.

Believe in Wardy, I think he'll be alright.

Surely a change is needed though right?

Can make an argument for McNeil for Westwood, and I'd have no objection to that if Dyche did it - it just means we're a touch more open defensively, and I think we need to get back to basics a little bit. First step to recovery is shutting the back door a bit better.

Vydra looks bright and so if he's judged ready for a start, he should start. It then becomes a question of who is the best player to partner him - and I think that's Vokes, because Vydra looks to me like a forward who wants to drive towards the opposition goal, rather than hold the ball and let others join in, and I think we therefore need the focal point to our attack to be someone who brings others into play and lets us get up the field - I think Vokes does that better than Wood (who is better latching onto balls into the channels rather than holding it up) or Barnes (who is a bit clumsier in his link play).

I can only assume Lowton has a knock because he's clearly a better player than Bardsley, so hopefully he recovers quickly.

The problem is we all know what it will be!!!!

Wood up front with Vydra behind is a no brainer, if only for a bit of pace and creativity. Lennon gets another chance because of lack of alternatives. Westwood marginally ahead of Hendrick but there's not much in it.

We need to play the back four that gave us so much success last season. Ward defensively is far more sound than Taylor. Lowton offers excellent delivery into the box - something we are badly lacking across the pitch. Not happy with our central midfield options but I think 442 is our strongest formation so I'd go with Hendrick in his more natural position again. Westwood is solid but not creative enough. Wood hasn't really hit form yet (has anyone?) but he is a goal scorer. Vydra offers that bit of pace and trickery we badly need. I could see him forging a good partnership with Wood. Lennon hasn't hit any form yet but I think it's early to throw McNeill in week in, week out so I'd go with him.

We would probably defend better if we attacked a bit more. Our wide men are asked to operate from far too deep and our midfielders never carry the ball (although Defour is brilliant at that).. it doesn’t matter who we pick they just need to be given a bit more freedom to express themselves and not be scared of making a mistake and all charging back to within 25 yards of our own goal when we lose the ball try and win it back further up the park if we can. we are so scared of the counter attack we can’t create owt our sens. . The players look bored too me.

Dont care so long as we dont play lennon he brings nothing to the game and the wolves game just topped it for me, if your having a poor game graft is the bare minimum and just dont see it.

We’re losing every midfield duel, Lowton and Ward can do the wing play if we actually get a grip of a game.

I'd be happy as long as he puts Mcneil and Vydra in the starting line up and drops Lennon. I do think Hart has earned his place for this match after his previous MoM performance.

Alwaysaclaret, I take your point re Tom Heston but for me Joe Hart just hasn’t had time to develop his relationship with the back four. Remember Nick Pope had 18 months on the training ground before his debut and Tarks similar. Smooth transitions. Due to injuries Joe had to be shoehorned in sooner than everyone would have preferred. Also we haven’t had a settled back four. I’m sure things will improve but Joe hasn’t let anyone down and deserves to keep the shirt. He has also worked on his distribution.
