£8.29

Post by Claretforshaw » Tue Sep 18, 2018 5:37 pm

The cost of a large Pinot at a Pub just outside Euston Station ! This is the thin end of the wedge, I very rarely pay over a fiver for a bottle.

Next time I will check the cost before ordering, my own fault I guess, but their profit margin must be pretty good no doubt gobbled up by property costs.

When in London especially around the central areas the cost of Alcohol is extortionate, without saying that it was cheap in the past.

I went to Majorca a few years ago and we went to a place where the millionaires lived with their yachts.

It worked out at £26 for 2 standard bottles of Becks.

Did similar in Manchester a few years ago - got a taxi over with a mate and walked into 1st place that we saw as he needed the loo. “What you drinking?” ‘Get me a double vodka’ .... “double vodka and coke and a pint of Stella please” .....

£22 .... I don’t even know how that works out - the worst thing was I had £10 in my hand and got another £10 out thinking, it’s Manchester so will be a bit more ..... I still didn’t have enough out

We've all been there. Paid $10 for a beer in a plastic cup in Madison Square Garden.

I'm on a Goldilocks drink strategy. Tiny bottles of wine only. You get one glass and a bit and a bit for cooking.

Paid approx £15 for a bottle of water (small bottle) in Ibiza 10 years ago. DJ Was Paul Taylor. £15 for a bottle of water after paying £40 or more in to watch a DJ from Burnley.

People still believe the hype about that place! Scary.

Bought a pint and a 1/2 in the pub near to Fulham the other week.

Was noisy and didn't hear what he said the price was so gave him a tenner. He stood there waiting and when I asked him how much he said £10.35!!

Can get nearly 5 pints for that before a home game!!

Found a Spoons in Hammersmith before Kevin Bridges after walking out of a pub right next door. They were wanting £5.30 for a Heineken, Spoons £3.35.

I have friends in London who are, by their own admission, utter lushes.

They come over here, every so often, friday to sunday or monday, and drink like utter fishes in awesome cocktail bars, and all in, including plane fare and nice digs, spend no more than they would have staying around their area in London.

People need to reject the status quo now and again

I always find there is a lot of waste, if they pour a pint and a half for me.
