Almost reading between the lines suggest one of Defour or Brady could come under consideration next week

Is anyone else a little concerned about the number of times newly employed players seem to be injured/unfit? I'm beginning to question our training techniques.

Should be doing everything in our power to see they get game time v Cardiff & Hudds. Even if it means resting them again v City and even Chelsea.

He won't play them until he thinks they are ready. Defour is obviously the closest, he got through about an hour on Monday with seemingly no problems and both of them are playing today. We've got an under-23 game next Monday and one the Monday after so I would be hoping, provided there are no setbacks, that they could both be ready to be involved against Huddersfield.

Stephen Defour and Robbie Brady are our two most creative players and yes they will be like two new signings when they return to first team action
They are nearly there which is good news

It is cause for concern.

Gibson with a Hernia - its obviously not an injury you get overnight.
Vydra was injured when we signed him
Hart was a signing to replace an injured player.

Which makes our summer business look even worse. Because we have ultimately not signed any outfield players for the first team for the start of the season which was always going to be frenetic.

Its not unusual either. Always takes us ages to integrate new signings who arent injured until 'Dyche fit'.

But previously other signings were baffling. Wells injured, unwanted and out of contract not long after recovery.

I know its been done to death. But losing so many established players and not replacing most is beyond frustrating. Especially when it was our best ever chance to attract top class players.

We do seem to get a lot of injuries now but I think that’s in football in general so we are not on our own.
Whenever I hear other teams squad news before a game or while I’m watching a game on Sky they always mention the injuries.

Either concern or bad luck or this thing about not being Dyche fit.

I think the earliest we are likely to see Defour is against Cardiff in 10 days time.
Dyche will want him to have at least one, if not two more run outs for the U23's
afore he considers him for selection although he may just decide to put him on the bench
against Burton and possibly bring him on for the last 20 mins or so.
But he won't take any risks and probably ease him in over the next 3-4 weeks.
Hopefully he'll built up match time and be able to last a good 60-70 mins.

Brady I suspect will be a couple of weeks behind Defour but may just make
the Huddersfield game the week after Cardiff.

Either way if they do make it then they'll be coming into pretty important, if not critical games
which we can't really afford to lose and ideally need to win.
So the atmosphere is going to be fairly intense as all teams will be playing for a good result.

The reason for injuries these days are because players are no longer beer swilling fag smoking footballers of the eighties ,they are now athletes who are so highly tuned they get niggles and muscle tears more easily

Assuming this reply applies to the decades previous to the 80's I'm just trying to picture the Brazilian World Cup winning team of 1970 swilling beer and smoking fags. They could play a bit as well, though.

I told you on the Defour thread on September 5th that the plan was to involve Defour and Brady in the first team squad at Burton. From my very good sauce (HP) confirms this is still very much the target for both. That doesn’t necessarily mean we will throw them into premier league games straight after I suppose.

This two will be pivotal in respect in creativity. They should be returning Dyche fit and without the European trips, they should be fresh and fit. Should be great.

Absolutely. I don't know how fit they were in Dyche terms but I do know they were the best team that has ever walked the earth.

Interesting that really. Do players EVER 'come back stronger' after a long term injury. I'm not so sure but it may have happened. All I know is we would be very fortunate if BOTH of them did.

Ha ha very funny. Good stuff, just goes to show there's no such thing as perfection. Doesn't take away from the fact that they strolled through to the final then destroyed a very good Italian side 4-1.

The type of player Defour is, I'd think he'd be ok. He's a more creative than combative player. I'm more worried about Brady reaching the level he was at pre-injury.

I don`t think for a minute Dyche will risk Defour in a cup game against a lower league opposition on their patch, especially if the pitch is an issue (not saying it is). I think it fair to suggest he will be on the bench for Huddersfield at home and alleluia if he is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Only seen Gibson in the one game, Europa at home. Thought his movement was reminiscent to Tarks at the end of last season, just put it down to general fitness at the time.

Strange one this I think. Do you remember the first promotion season under Dyche when we really did have a thin squad? Our injury record was almost unnaturally good. My brother met one of the medical staff at the time and they were boasting that with their training and monitoring regime, they’d “all but eliminated” soft tissue injuries.

Now we’re losing players to muscle strains, hernias and the like on a regular basis, often turning out to be more serious than originally thought. You wonder what’s changed over the past couple of years, or were we just lucky back then?
