Just watched The Founder on Amazon Prime, about the birth of the McDonald's franchise, and enjoyed it. Sully (about the Hudson river landing) is excellent.

If you like true sport films, I'd recommend Rush (I don't like F1 but it's brilliant) and The Damned United.

Mate, Sully gets a bit daft at the end when they're doing the flight sim reconstruction in the courtroom. Gets a bit schmaltzy, Hanks was the hero but he ends by saying American people were the real here's as the music swells.

Seabiscuit and Secretariat, if you like horse racing.

(I would also recommend Christopher Robin, but I have suspicions that some of that is producer's licence! ;) )

I suspect even with a real life film, he might want to avoid being told how it ends! :?

I like films based on real life events as well, a few off the top of my head..

13 Days - About the Cuban missile crisis (and how scarily close we came to WW3)

Walk the Line - Johnny Cash biopic

Apollo 13 - The story of the failed mission

Hidden Figures - About black women in the US space program overcoming prejudice

127 hours - One mans survival battle trapped by his arm by a huge boulder in the wildrness

The Shallows - Female surfer trapped by huge shark

Touching The Void

"In the mid-80's two young climbers attempted to reach the summit of Siula Grande in Peru; a feat that had previously been attempted but never achieved. With an extra man looking after base camp, Simon and Joe set off to scale the mount in one long push over several days. The peak is reached within three days, however on the descent Joe falls and breaks his leg. Despite what it means, the two continue with Simon letting Joe out on a rope for 300 meters, then descending to join him and so on. However when Joe goes out over an overhang with no way of climbing back up, Simon makes the decision to cut the rope. Joe falls into a crevasse and Simon, assuming him dead, continues back down. Joe however survives the fall and was lucky to hit a ledge in the crevasse. This is the story of how he got back down."

Awesome!!!

" The World's fastest Indian " , the story of Burt Munro, a New Zealander with a heavily modified Indian Scout motorbike, and his journey to get to compete at " Speed week " at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in the 1960's, when he was aged well over 60 .... great film !

The Wizard of Lies is really good, but with De Niro in it how could it not be?? It's all about the Bernie Madorf scandal. Something I previously knew very little about.

Searching for Sugar Man - a true story about a musician that became a household name across much of South Africa.... But little was known about him in that country, so a couple of fans decided to try and track him down.
What they discovered is a compelling story.

We saw the Sugar Man perform live in Birmingham about 6 years ago, he’s getting on now but yes a remarkable true story.

Of those that have - Schindler's List & Hidden Figures.

So many good films based on real life mentioned here but I can't believe no-one has mentioned The Wolf of Wall Street. DiCaprio has never been better and the scene with the slow acting qualudes is comedy gold.

Good morning Vietnam has been mentioned so I won't.....oops.....I did.

Also just remembered - The Express - American highschool football star, about his time college football but who falls ill just as he makes it to the NFL...
