Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
Hart 8 A very very good save and looks solid.
Lowton 6 Some very good some not so good though he was caught out a few times early on and looked all over the place but grew into the game and overlapped well toward the end.
Taylor 6 Not the finished article but played ok for most parts some good blocks but does lose the blind side runner needs better awareness which will come with playing hopefully.
Tarkowski 8 He was the dominant partner and won most battles. The only blip was a few wayward Beckenbauer balls.
Mee 7 Much better and getting back to where he used to be much more assured. A couple of dodgy moments but his usual channel ball was well won by Vokes most of the time.
JBG 8 Got better and better and liked when he went more central as well in the later stages when we went narrower. He tenacity got us a goal and he nearly scored was much much better than recently.
Westwood 8 Pushed forward at times unlucky not to score but had a massive hand in the Vydra goal. He controlled the tempo and won some key duals.
Cork 7 Wow what a double Pirlo he looked more composed and re-energized and I thought he played well and dropped deeper at times to help out there narrow 3 when they went chasing the game.
Lennon 9 Outstanding dangerous and direct with end product. Looked dangerous throughout yes he left Taylor exposed at times but he also made some great challenges.
Vydra 7 Perfect player for us just what we needed intelligence technique and a bit of hard graft. He does seem to know where the bag is too looks a player we have been crying out for and be interesting when Defour returns I suspect they may strike up some kind of partnership with intelligent forward balls.
Vokes 8 Outstanding battered their backline and won almost everything. Hard work and endeavor, deserved a goal to top of his performance.
Wood 7
Barnes 8
More like Burnley of old good to see a lot more flair. Bournemouth have spent some money and look a good technical side but it looks like a typical Eddie Howe side good going forward poor at the back.

Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
Hart 8 - Sound with everything, great 1 on 1 save second half.
Lowton 7 - So much better down the right with him rather than Bardsley, chalk and cheese.
Tarkowski 7 - Solid
Mee 7 - Solid
Taylor 7 - I am not a big fan of his but thought he was fine today.
Gudmundsson 8 - Much more the JBG of last season, consistently involved in most of our good stuff.
Cork 7 - Much better
Westwood 8 - Really good, solid, broke play up and sprang is on the counter often.
Lennon 9 - Best game for Burnley, THIS is the player he can be. Two assists, a goal, an all action display.
Vydra 8 - Looks a player, different to what we have. Dare I say it, a bit Ings-ish?
Vokes 7 - Had a really good first half, won a lot in the air and linked well at times with Vydra.
Subs
Barnes 8 - Two goals, you can’t ask more than that.
Wood 6 - Largely uninvolved, Vokes to keep the shirt at Cardiff for me.
SO much better, the literal polar opposite of everything we have been for weeks. Fantastic!

Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
I'm not pro or anti Taylor, but those saying "~The odd blip today" aren't quite right in my view. There was a piece of defending where he switched off, played people onside, then ran away from the man with the ball. Hart saved the shot, 1 on 1 with the Bournemouth player. It's a very very poor piece of defending. He''s also caught in no mans land when the opposition attack too often, not closing the ball down quickly, nor tucked in tight when defending. He's much more off an attacking threat than Ward from a crossing perspective in the bits that I have seen of him.

Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
Hart 8 (at least one excellent stop when it really mattered)
Lowton 8 (miles better than Bardsley)
Tarks 9
Mee 6 (defensively fine, but other teams deliberately let him have the ball to play out from the back - for a reason!!)
Taylor 7 (always seems a bit frantic and "on the edge" defensively, but decent enough going forward)
Cork 8
Westwood 8
JBG 8
Lennon 8 (I honestly never thought he'd anything above a 5 from me, his debut game aside, but credit where it's due. He was very good today. Let's have more of it!)
Vokes 7 (won loads of headers, but never seemed to find a claret shirt)
Vydra 8 (embodied the spark we've been missing)
Wood 6
Barnes 8
Clearly a miles better performance all round and that against a team very much in form. Having said that, Bournemouth didn't actually play much like a team in form and it seemed only a matter of time before we took the lead. Having established that lead we then did what we had previously become so adept at. We let the opposition have 25 minutes at the start of the second half with absolutely loads and loads of ball, but we defended superbly, we soaked it up pretty comfortably and then hit them on the break. Job done! So much like our old (normal) selves and bodes well for the future. (Man City game aside!!)

Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
Hart - 8 untroubled bar a one on one that he saved very well
Lowton - 6 a little rusty but bardsley shouldn't get a look in unless he's injured now
Tarkowski - 8 top drawer
Mee - 6 distribution as ever a bit of a problem
Taylor - 7 crossing a bit off but very good otherwise and got a couple of key blocks in; he's growing into the premier league
Cork - 7 popped up all over the shop
Westwood - 6 ok but we missed Hendrick's drive
Gudmundsson - 7 getting back to his best, super ball for the 2nd
Lennon - 9 assured in possession, a poachers finish, a big part in the 3rd and the 4th was all of his making. Defensively very good as well, with a top tackle on the edge of the box.
Vokes - 7 did all the donkey work up top and his presence was a key factor in the 2nd goal
Vydra - 7 I said when he signed he's got that happy knack of getting on the end of the loose balls in the box. He'll bag a fair few for us.
Wood - 6 not a lot from him but nearly grabbed a goal
Barnes- 7 poachers finish for his first and a sublime placed strike for his second
Watched from the canaries, this was a sweet way to end our dismal run of results. The performance fully merited it as we were sharp from the off, defended well when we had to and took our chances when they came.
We've essentially done what we've had done to us the last few games. Get in front and then bag a couple later on when the opponents are chasing it. These are the fine margins and we're on the right side of them today.

Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
Hart 8 - have to see it back but I thought it was a world class save when they were through 1 on 1
Lowton 7 - Different league to Bardsley.
Tarkowski 8 - Southgate will have been impressed with that.
Mee 7 - Not as good as Tark.
Taylor 7 - God knows what Hibs is on about. Taylor was fine and looking forward to him settling in the side.
JBG 8 - A lot better on the right.
Cork 7 - Battled well.
Westwood 7 - See Cork. Can’t wait for Defour to be back in this side, though.
Lennon 9* - Best player on the pitch. Excellent defensively AND most importantly going forwards. Hopefully that goal and one (pretty much two) assists gives him a big boost.
Vydra 8 - The missing link to our system.
Vokes 7 - Led the line well and showed some good promise linking with Vydra.
Barnes 7 - Two well taken goals.

The first goal is so important when you play as we do, and we rode our luck to get it. After that we were strong favourites and now we have dynamic wingers we are suddenly a threat to exploit space, which we did.
Lennon went from 1 shot and 1 pass leading to a shot (in 5 games) to a goal and 2 assists. Well done him.
Taylor seems to have got some grief on here but I think he was better than that, though some of his defending was a bit last gasp. His positioning is often poor and he let Fraser get loads of crosses in, though Fraser is a good player. I think Ward is better but Ward has had a foot injury and we need to get behind his deputy.
I’m pleased for Dyche after some bad recent decisions. While I would be happy if he went for not trying his best in the cups, I never wanted him sacked because he doesn’t deserve that based on his league efforts. I am glad the pressure is now kind of off.

Pressing, work rate and a bit of belief doesn’t half make a difference. A much better performance and not a player that had a poor game.

Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
Much much better. Got a little edgy at times and so did I, but I can honestly say I was pleased with the performance.
Hart 8-His save from Brooks early in the second half was crucial. Must have impressed watching Southgate.
Lowton 7-Solid, glad he's back in.
Tarkowski 7-Played well.
Mee 8 More like the Ben of old.
Taylor 7-Needs to improve his positional sense at times but feel he could make the LB slot his own.
JBG 8-His best match this season thus far, and on this form one of the best wide men in the PL.
Westwood 7-Neat and Tidy and did very well for the 4th goal on the counter.
Cork 7-More like Jack of old.
Lennon 9*-Did what I wanted him to do. He took responsibility and his qualities came to the fore.
Vydra 8-Hurray, someone with something different and didn't it show.
Vokes 7-Think he'll develop a good partnership with Vydra.
Wood 6-If that glancing header had gone in he'd have certainly got an extra point.
Barnes 7-Everything he wasn't last week.

Can't really score as my link was stop/start. Just thought those two quickfire goals did our confidence a world of good. Lennon seemed to get a chuckle in his boots. Liking the look of Vydra. Our biggest ever win in the Premier League without being at our best but we took our chances. Happy days.

A good performance and a very good result,we appeared to be getting back to somewhere near our former self. I thought some of the football we played was up there with the best this calendar year, typified by our fourth goal which was a sublime rapid and incisive break from our own box.
A special mention for Aaron Lennon too who at times was unplayable and who worked his proverbials off tracking back and even getting a couple of tackles in.
Also it was great to see no square pegs in round holes as well, which surely contributed to the performance.
The one concern for me though is still the number of chances we are giving the opposition. We still appear to not be putting pressure on the opposition players in our final third rather than grasping the nettle, which in turn allows the opposition time and space to either pick a pass or get a shot off

Re: Burnley v Bournemouth - Player Ratings
Amazed at some of the comments regarding our defence yesterday. They headed, kicked and blocked most things that came their way....just like we do when we defend at our best. We always defend narrow so the opposition wide players get plenty of room but it doesn't mean that we struggled defensively - it's just the way we set up defensively.
Hart 8 - Huge save from Brooks at 2-0
