Joe Hart and the 'fan'
Did anyone else witness Joe Hart's response to the fan shouting at him, for not coming for a ball that fizzed across the penalty area in the first half?
When the ball went dead and Hart went to retrieve it, he shouted words to the effect of "What's your problem?" to our wannabe goalkeeping coach.
Dead funny!

When our third went in he was celebrating like he did when Aguero scored that goal.

Agreed. It’s so refreshing. There’s been quite a few times where he’s been trying to pump the crowd upclaptrappers_union wrote:When our third went in he was celebrating like he did when Aguero scored that goal.

Re: Joe Hart and the 'fan'
I am positive in general though it may not seem so. I see positives in all 3 of our summer signings but felt we needed more. Yes SD hasnt let us down with many mistakes in the transfer windows but sometimes the older heads (dressing roon players) signed are questionable when that money should be spent on a couple of up and coming players.
The best manager in my lifetime watching Burnley (1st game was when we won 4th division....we beat gillingham 4-1 with a conroy hat trick, bought the speckled kit before the match from Peter noble) but as he admits he is still learning.

Often misunderstood. I think he falls into the category of when winning he is a positive influence because of his upbeat loud nature but when losing he always seems to be blamed by people from outside the team because of his upbeat loud nature.MRG wrote:His passion is unquestionable. He loves the CF stand getting behind the lads.

He’s a good keeper and has made some excellent saves but if you think he commandes the 6 yard box well you have some Joe Hart tinted specs on.
Maybe we were spoiled last season by having pope who would come and collect balls. Hart as I said is a been a good keeper but I think coming for crosses is an area he needs to work on to be a great keeper.

You can tell that he feels we've 'saved' him. His career was going nowhere and possibly coming to an end, and we've reached out and given him a chance. And he looks and sounds like he's very grateful for that. Fair play to the lad.

Re: Joe Hart and the 'fan'
I think having him here with players like Lennon and Defour will help us attract that next level of player which may have been out of reach in the past. Internationals with vast experience who may have just lost their eay a little. Usually find better value in this type of player and kid gloves applied. As long as patience is shown with them they can rediscover their past form

Think it's a great thing for both parties.
With his recent form and Southgate there today...
As much as I am a huge Heaton fan, Hart got the shirt and is earning his keep. It's his to lose now IMO.

Re: Joe Hart and the 'fan'
I saw that. At first I wondered why he left it, but on seeing the replay, it was whipped in with some pace and right in that area where him coming for it may cause more issues than solving. As a side note. Was listening to a co-commentator the other week talking about our keepers. He said 'What a nice problem to have, not one, not two but three England internationals'. He wasn't sure the last time any club had three at the same time. It wasn't too long ago we were pinching ourselves we had one. He, along with general comments including rather surprisingly; Garth Crooks yesterday. Had positive things to say and thought we'd be fine.

Actually I think there is an element of that, base don the true lack of alternates during that period. I’ve warmed to him as a personality, and he’s obviously a top keeper, but he doesn’t SEEM to command his area as superbly as Heaton or Popefidelcastro wrote:70 odd England caps for a player who doesn't command his six yard box... my goodness, he has been fortunate, hasn't he?

Unconscious Bias towards Heaton. He was always a good communicator but commanding his area and coming for balls was never his strength either.
Heats is one of my favorite players ever but teams evolve and I think Hart is the best keeper out of the 5 we have maybe Pope has great potential but there a reason Hart has been voted the best keeper in our league a few times and made various England caps.

Someone behind me was going beserk when Hart and Tarky (I think) went for the same ball at the CF end. Put a name on it for f**** sake.
The ball was lashed in from the by line from about 6 yards away. How quick does he think these reactions are? Thankfully they both went for it and got it cleared.

Re: Joe Hart and the 'fan'
I would never have signed him and believed it was an expensive (he'll be on a few bob) mistake, as he had become seriously blunder prone in the last 2/3 seasons. HOWEVER, up to press he's been extremely good and I'm beginning to eat my words. I'm also really pleased to see his attitude which is hardly the old pro looking for somewhere to languish for a season or two and get well paid on his past reputation. He's really up for it and a bit like Joey B he could well be falling in love with the club which is something he didn't expect. In reference to some comments above I too think he occasionally punches where Heaton would comfortably catch and I too think Pope is better than both of them at coming for balls and commanding his 6 yard box and beyond. Having said that everyone should play to their own strengths and Hart has had a very successful career doing what works for him and he's definitely winning me over.

Bumped into a mate who is lifelong city fan and he asked about Hart. Get the feeling he was very popular with the City fans during his career there.
The anxious fans complain about a punch clearance, he punched it 30 yards same as headed clearance . Safety first, compare it with a dropped catch in the penalty area.

Re: Joe Hart and the 'fan'
I still prefer Heaton.
My analysis is that the defenders play better for Tom as there is a mutual confidence. It follows that Tom knows the plan and is places himself in the best position. He will never therefore appear as spectacular as Hart.
Hart has played well but I do wonder whether Tom would have dealt with many of these efforts in a more conservative fashion.
My analysis may be wrong but it would be unprofessional to ignore it. Well as Hart has played we have let more goals in than normal. Is that his fault or the defence. Could be either or both.
Finally it should not be ignored thatTom is a leader and club captain. Defenders respect him for that and will listen to him. I am not sure what Hart does in this respect.
Just an opinion which warrants examination. We have concede more goals than normal and it is possible this is the reason

Re: Joe Hart and the 'fan'
Hart has played very well for sure - but he does not command his box at all - does not like coming out of his 6 yard box never mind commanding the whole of his area. To be fair neither does Tom but they are both very good shot stoppers.
The only keeper who commands his area and rarely punches the ball is Nick Pope - being 6ft 5 helps - but it is a big advantage for us to have a keeper like Pope as they are rare in the Premier League. Catching the ball anywhere in the area relieves so much pressure for the team - even if you get a good punch on it you are usually giving the ball back to the other team.
On Hart if somebody in the crowd did shout that then he should be experienced enough to not say anything back to the fan.
