David Brooks
How good was he today? Ran the game for Bournemouth for long periods. Cracking left foot on him. Very comfortable on the ball and can puck a pass. Only 21 as well.
Shame he chose Wales over England.

Re: David Brooks
Thought he was outstanding and the second best player on the pitch behind Lennon.

Re: David Brooks
He was very good but seemed to be given a free role, which is all well and good, but is also why it's not unusual for a Howe team to concede a lot of goals. We certainly couldn't afford that luxury.

His powers of recovery after rolling around are almost super human.
Good young player though.

He was outstanding. The sort of player we should have been in for in the summer.

Re: David Brooks
Yes he was excellent. He showed great potential at Sheff Utd and is maturing into a classy player. Also comes from the North West. The sort we should have certainly been looking at during the summer.
Re: David Brooks
The likes of him and Maddison show there is still value to be had in the Championship. Unfortunately Dyche will always favour experience rather than youth.

Very good player. First time I've seen him live and he didn't disappoint.

Re: David Brooks
Struggled for an end product I thought. Glided around the final third with impunity but didn't see too many killer passes and he didn't have a decent finish on him either. Recall a couple of times in the second half where he got to the edge of the box, had no idea what to do with it, and had to stop and pass it backwards. Certainly a player in there, though.

Look across a few of the threads at the top of this board and you will see that some fans are unwilling to give the younger replacement the opportunity to developjrgbfc wrote:The likes of him and Maddison show there is still value to be had in the Championship. Re: David Brooks
Good player. In some respects, I'd have liked us to be in for him, but on the other hand, that might have unnecessarily stifled the opportunity for McNeil to develop and emerge.

Re: David Brooks
He certainly should be and quite probably is - but he's not a completely dissimilar looking type of player to McNeil (from the glimpses we've seen), and he's a player we'd have been signing with an eye on the future, so you can imagine he might well have restricted McNeil's opportunity to progress.

Re: David Brooks
I don't think McNeil would of been in Dyche's plans to be fair. Injuries and a good pre season along with lack of signings have given him a chance which he has took with both hands.

Re: David Brooks
Looks a good player but he needs to stop throwing himself on the floor. There were a couple of blatant dives from him yesterday and the referee fell for them. Other than that I thought he s excellent.

You mean like Barnes?jlup1980 wrote:Looks a good player but he needs to stop throwing himself on the floor. There were a couple of blatant dives from him yesterday and the referee fell for them. Other than that I thought he s excellent.
Or is it alright if he wins them for your club?

Re: David Brooks
No, it's embarrassing when he does it as well. I actually thought of Barnes when Brooks threw himself to the deck for the second time at the weekend. It was as obvious and blatant as Ashley makes them sometimes. I'm surprised the officials don't do more to stamp it out completely.Quickenthetempo wrote:You mean like Bares?

Re: David Brooks
Maddison cost Leicester £20m. He looks to be a good signing but with no Premier League experience before this season I’m not sure I would describe him as value. Brooks cost Bournemouth £11.5m, which looks far more reasonable.jrgbfc wrote:The likes of him and Maddison show there is still value to be had in the Championship. Re: David Brooks
Officials encourage diving. 9 times out of then when there is slight contact, and the player throws himself down, the ref gives a free kick. 9 times out of 10 when there is clear pushing but the player stays on his feet, the ref does not give a free kick. One of the worst examples on Saturday, early in the match, Lowton and the Bournemouth man (may have been Brooks) ran shoulder to shoulder towards the ball on the touchline. The Bournemouth man kicked the ball out of play and knelt down and got a free kick. Why? Because two players touched and one chose to fall over. The referee gave the free kick as a reward for deliberately falling over. Refs do it a lot - it's FA policy that they should reward players who fall over with free kicks, unless they are sure there was no foul.jlup1980 wrote:No, it's embarrassing when he does it as well. Reminded me of a younger Bryan Robson.
Re: David Brooks
I'd say 20 million for an excellent young English player is good value. What will Wells and Walters have cost us by the time we manage to get shut?kaptin1 wrote:Maddison cost Leicester £20m. Re: David Brooks
Easier to say that, now he has played a few games at a higher level, than when he was playing for Norwich in the 2nd tier. Hindsight is a great thing!jrgbfc wrote:I'd say 20 million for an excellent young English player is good value.
Other thing to bear in mind is that he may be flattering to deceive. Give him a full season in the premier league, then it might be possible to say, yes, he is value for money.

Re: David Brooks
Thought he was a bit of a tool. Talented, yes, but went down far too easily.
He also couldn't be arsed tracking Lennon for the 4th goal, went a bit schoolboy and tried chasing the ball rather than go with Lennon, which made Lennon's job of squaring the ball that bit easier.
