Ash Barnes
Must have some record as a scoring sub for us?
I’d bring him on at the hour every match. He brings a real presence to the game, as a sub, that many can’t do.
The partnerships yesterday looked decent. Vokes/Vydra & Wood/Barnes. Keeping them fresh is a bonus.

Re: Ash Barnes
Vokes record must be better as a sub
Re: Ash Barnes
Don't want to see Barnes starting games for us this season if everyone is fit, but coming on as sub to either unsettle a team if we're losing or break a game up if we're winning he is the perfect man!

Re: Ash Barnes
I don’t like Sam, as a sub, but you’re right he has also bagged some crucial goals off the bench.MRG wrote:Vokes record must be better as a sub
Somebody out there will have the stats.
Re: Ash Barnes
Sam probably sticks in the head more because he had a few games where he scored with his first touch when brought on

Re: Ash Barnes
Always better when he has something to prove. Dropping him was a master stroke this week!
That said hes hould never have been on the bench behind a front two of Hendrick and Wood (both of whom I like).

Re: Ash Barnes
Sam did a lot of unselfish things yesterday to the benefit of others
He has a great track record when played alongside a smaller sharp striker-Ings, Gray, to a lesser extent Austin. He could be the man to partner Vydra
What was good yesterday was the class on the bench-Barnes, Wood, Hendrick. With Defour and Brady to come back it makes us a stronger, pressing team. We forget the impact of Brady's set pieces too

Re: Ash Barnes
Confidence is key.
Wood, Vokes and Barnes have all looked off the pace this season, they all looked up for it yesterday. Vydra had a great game too, and does offer the difference we hoped for.
If fit we should start next week with the same XI.

Last season when he was starting games he was immense for us and now you want to make him a super sub?

Re: Ash Barnes
Moyes just stated on GOS that he was the most improved player in the Prem last season, who could argue, and that he is key for Burnley.
I wouldn't say he is key, all our strikers are important to us, but he is immense. Anyone who doesn't love Ash Barnes and what he brings to the team needs to give their head a big shake. Love him.

Re: Ash Barnes
I was watching Ash and Wood pre the game at Stoke last season from the front row right behind the goals. There was no doubt who the better finisher is tbh. Wood was absolutely unreal. Hit the inside of the side netting pretty much every time. Ash was nowhere near as good.
When it comes to game time and some of the examples from last season at West Ham for example and yesterday, Ash doesn’t half get it right when he gets chance for an instinctive strike. Top finisher when it matters
