Horror Films Recommendations

Post by mkmel » Sun Sep 23, 2018 6:16 pm

I have just got Netflix on a free trial for 1 month and I enjoy watching Horror films so any recommendations would be appreciated

I have searched for Sinister which I think is very good and one or two others but they are not on Netflix

Thanks

The original Stephen King's "IT" - not super scary (unless you have Coulrophobia) but it's still classed as a horror film and I thought it was great. Never watched Netflix, so not sure if it has older movies too, or whether it's just new ones.

. doesn’t think the horror films available on Netflix are all that great. He watched one called ‘The Boy’ which had one or two good suspense moments but he wasn’t overly impressed.

There’s one on Netflix called The Ritual which I enjoyed. It’s a British low(ish) budget film. Much better than I expected.

. will watch this. He read the book the film is based on a few years ago. He thinks the authors name was something like Adam Neville.

If ‘Don’t Breathe’ is still on Netflix get it watched! Pure adrenaline ride.

There’s one called ‘Hush’ which is also decent

A little cheesy but the Boy is a good horror film. Another recommendation is 3096 days. Probably more of a thriller but still an interesting watch.

The old blind guy turns out to be a beast rapist of the Robert Black mould. More of a thriller than a horror.

`The Blair Witch Project`

`Let The Right One In` - original version not the yankee remake

`Ringu` - the original Japanese version.

I saw an Australian film called 'Wolf Creek' on the 'Horror Channel' a while back. I really enjoyed it, so made sure I saw the sequel a few weeks later!

Apparently, it's been made into a TV series down under, but I haven't seen that yet.

Watched a few on Netflix recently. Thought 'Would You Rather' was ok, so much so I watched it twice but then I found it humorous in parts. More a suspense than horror. Watched 'The Boy' and 'Don't Breathe'. 'Circle' was another although that's just weird. They have 'Jigsaw' on there too if you're into 'Saw'.

Bambi wins. It's actually a wrestling video, and Bambi wins best 2 out of 3 falls by using a "foreign object".

Thanks

Whatever you do, don’t fall for the hype about Hereditary. I have seen scarier episodes of Mickey Mouses Clubhouse with my 1 year old.

I recommend It Follows if you haven’t seen that yet.

There are some streaming services that specialise in horror such as Shudder.

Anyway, not sure it these are on Netflix but I recommend The Descent, The Blair Witch Project and Halloween.

Watched Cargo last night which was pretty good. I wouldn't say it'll make you fill your trousers, but I found it quite absorbing.

Martin Freeman in an Australian zombie film. You don't get that very often.

I'm told the new Halloween film is very good, if you ignore the fact that Jamie Lee Curtis' character has already been killed off twice!

I loved both of the Descent films but neither are on Netflix

I strongly recommend them to anyone who has access to watch horror films anywhere other than on Netflix
