CC final round
Lancashire still alive just 123-4 replying to Hampshire's 187,as usual the bowlers doing the business maximum points, but Notts gained 2 bonus points and only need 5 points from their match against Somerset,Lancs need to pass 300 within a 110 overs or it's game over anyway tough to see that.
Bonkers that Bailey has 60 wickets now and he will be in a relegated team.

May be a stupid question as most of mine are.
Why are Jos Buttler and Jimmy Anderson not playing?

Why is our overseas spinner not playing?
Re: CC final round
Set up nicely. Looks like it will be in Lancs' batsmen's own hands to relegate themselves. How fitting.
Surprised the Lancs die-hards aren't down south winding up the Hampshire fans. Stay classy xx.

Because we are going to Burton - see you there perhaps?bedfords wrote:Set up nicely. Looks like it will be in Lancs' batsmen's own hands to relegate themselves. How fitting.

Lancashire CC have gone for a Burton too!
It's what you get for relying on Kolpaks and foreign imports and not developing homegrown talent.

Absolutely 100% correct and doing nothing about it by the looks of it.CleggHall wrote:Lancashire CC have gone for a Burton too!

All the counties need players who have grown up playing on English wickets since they were kids.
The last test series has just highlighted that.

This could be on for Lancs. Certainly worth getting your hopes up.

Re: CC final round
Certainly appears to be more worry in the Yorkshire camp than there is hope or belief in the Lancs camp.

Re: CC final round
Yorkshire safe
Lancs must get 300 and win, there are 257-7
Also Notts must be bowled out for less than 300 and lose
Slim but not impossible. We may well know in next hour or so

I’m talking about them worrying about us staying up.

Re: CC final round
No worry about that, Yorks only won 4 matches this year, 2 were Roses games and the Tykes enjoyed the points donation from across the Pennines!
Re: CC final round
More worried about you going down. We'd be in your position if we hadn't pumped you twice. Useful points.Bordeauxclaret wrote:I’m talking about them worrying about us staying up.

Notts doing there best for you anyway.
All set up for 299 all out at Southampton.

Looks like Notts and Lancs will finish level on points
Not checked rules but I guess 4 wins from Notts trumps our two

Re: CC final round
It's really disappointing to get relegated again. Lancs has a very large player base and pretty healthy local club leagues/competitions - we should be able to perform better than this as a county.
It looks like they will finish with more bowling bonus points than any other team in Division 1- so the current problem seems clear. The weather cant be blamed this year either as overmuch rain in for home games hasnt been a factor.
There's a decent chance of promotion next year I guess but there's a real need for some 4-day game batters to support the bowlers.

True, but if you only look at a small portion of that base then you are never going to get the best players.LeadBelly wrote:It's really disappointing to get relegated again. Lancs has a very large player base and pretty healthy local club leagues/competitions

Re: CC final round
From the outside looking in the club needs a complete over haul, staff and players. At times they struggled to get 100 runs

Won inside of 3 days by 8 wickets. I think Hampshire wanted an early dart

Re: CC final round
Lancs finish level on points with Notts at 133, was there a points deduction that proved crucial?
Re: CC final round
I wonder whether Lancs would have benefitted from that clown Ballance's 250 odd runs he scored in this round of matches.

Re: CC final round
One deducted point for slow over rate (in the Roses match?) sent them down. The captain should be shot!

Re: CC final round
Paul Allott is probably not doing himself any favours here (BBC cricket site today) re what's happened to Hameed's form.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/45665980
I guess he's being honest but what is the point of all the coaches/managers/advisers etc if they cant get on top of this & find a solution/replace?
"Where his form and function have gone and disappeared to is a complete and utter mystery to us."
