More expense for the club with no return. Dreadful signing in hindsight.

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
You can never predict a player is going to get injuries and hindsight is a wonderful thing. I am still convinced he'd have been a damn good signing for us but for the injuries. Really sorry for him now, just got back to playing and this is a really bad one.Blackrod wrote:More expense for the club with no return. Dreadful signing in hindsight.

I was thinking more that it's really, really bad luck for the player. You have to feel for him.Blackrod wrote:More expense for the club with no return. Dreadful signing in hindsight.
His signing might have been questionable at the time, but no one could have predicted this sequence of events.
Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
Just pay him up n get rid of this disaster of a signing! Keane was right saying he doesn't want to play..

Suppose we should be grateful we didn't give him a 3 year deal. Small mercies and that. Unfortunate for the lad think that's his career pretty much finished.

Yes, that's right. He's ruptured his achilles on purpose I suppose. Very nasty injury.Claretuk wrote: Keane was right saying he doesn't want to play..

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
It’s a shame that he’s injured. However, his tweeting about not playing says a lot about the type of bloke he his and the rationale for the great ginger one to get rid when he did.
All in all not a great signing...

How true. I can't understand why the club never uses hindsight in making these signings.Blackrod wrote:More expense for the club with no return. Dreadful signing in hindsight.

Do you know if we will be picking up his wages. From Ipswich local papers it was saying he was injured before the match, and shouldnt have been picked like the weekend before.
Surely we shouldnt pick up the cost for their ineptitude

We should start him this weekend... he has got a lot of ROI caps after all!Hibsclaret wrote:It’s a shame that he’s injured. However, his tweeting about not playing says a lot about the type of bloke he his and the rationale for the great ginger one to get rid when he did.

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
We'll have been covering at least half his wage anyway I would have thought. He'll be on at least 20 grand, no way Ipswich would have been paying the lot.Cleveleys_claret wrote:

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
Got a funny feeling he went off to join and play with the ROI squad shortly he had been injured for us in the League Cup at start of last season. Also I thought he had been injured playing for Ipswich but then returned quickly to feature on their bench. He came on and got injured-maybe still carrying the injury ???

Does the club have insurance against these sort of injuries?

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
Hopefully the club have more about them than this. Sure its a ball ache he is injured and we have to pay him. But these things happen. We are quick to criticise players when they want to leave during a contract. But it works both ways. We committed to him for the duration of his contract. and we owe it to him to honour that and also help him with his rehab.Claretuk wrote:Just pay him up n get rid of this disaster of a signing! Shame for the lad.
Are Ipswich paying his wages? You would expect so given he is on loan to them.

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
Do feel for Jon .
Not sure how he will get his head around this one as he still wants to be part of the Irish set up and play but I think he has to make a choice and to be honest he is not up to international standard when I have seen he play since 2016 .
Would not shock me if he packed it all in he is an honest lad .

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
I would have thought Ipswich wouldn’t be paying a loan fee to us, and part of his wages at least until January? A chunk of his cost should therefore be covered for most of his absence?

Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
What a completely idiotic comment - he had surgery last season and has now suffered a very serious injury.Claretuk wrote:Just pay him up n get rid of this disaster of a signing! Keane was right saying he doesn't want to play..

I feel really sorry for him. He's a good player.
Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
Exactly this. Good signing or not, there’s a right and a wrong way to treat players and doing things the right way send out a positive message. It’s all part of the team spirit for me.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Hopefully the club have more about them than this. Sure its a ball ache he is injured and we have to pay him. Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
He's had a nightmare since joined us with the injuries. Certainly don't take any notice of what Keane says and not sure why he gets all the flack on here. Hope he gets back to full fitness as soon as possible.
Re: ARTICLE: Injured Walters back at Burnley
Hard to see anyone offering him a contract next summer with his age and not playing for 2 years. Might be best calling it a day now.claretblue wrote:will be out for around six months - but not require surgery
