Ryder Cup predictions

Post by Inchy » Wed Sep 26, 2018 8:09 pm

Who is going to win the Ryder Cup?

Personally think the US are too strong and with Tiger back on form, the momentum of that will do no harm

Going to be an interesting weekend

Europe have five rookies and some of the US rookies are strong; as are the wildcards. Glad this is in home soul. I can see it going very deep into Sunday. Europe to win by two.

too close to call, think USA are stronger overall and will get a narrow win.

Very, very close! USA look incredibly strong but Europe's top players will come good and the rookies will rise to the occasion.....

Can't wait!!

16 - 12 to USA ...
Bjorn to be heavily criticised as his wild cards, Stenson, Garcia, Casey & Poulter, ( picked on reputation ), badly misfire ....

Hope I'm wrong ....

I wish it was being played in the North of Scotland, chucking it down for three days and 2 degrees with the wind blowing.

I reckon it will be very close.

Love to see Woods lose it on the 18th on Sunday.

I think the course suits the Americans and they do have the higher-ranked team overall.
Like Ty, I think we should ALWAYS play them in the frozen North, horizontal rain and blowing a hoolie!
Not confident this time!

Think it will be very close. Just hope we don't come to regret picking both Garcia and Stenson who are horribly out of form.

Last time it was Kaymer who was picked on reputation rather than form and had a shocker, wasn't it?

They should all use the same bats to make it a level playing field.

Agree shoulda held this event on the Scottish coast, links courses generally favour Europeans, amazing that it's 25 years since the US have triumphed in Europe, you sense they are due an away win,Tommy Fleetwood to star for Europe.

I've just calmed down.

My Mrs said earlier tonight when she realised the Ryder Cup was in Paris "you should have booked us to go and watch for the three days and then stay over for the Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp the week after but you have got a ticket for Cardiff now so it's too late".

I could have murdered her.

She hates golf and racing so would have just wanted a week or so shopping so Cardiff sounds a cheaper option.

Looking at the groups AM.
I'd be happy with 2-2 or better

Expect 3-1 USA

Long way to go.

I would go with this morning:

1. Europe win
2. US win
3. Draw
4. Europe win

The venue for Ryder Cup is now based on venues bidding to host it.
Next one in Europe is in Rome. One after that yet to be decided but Ireland is favourite.

Tomorrow mornings matches look great - think it will be either level or 2.5 to 1.5 for US.

Brilliant - first ever whitewash for Europe in foursomes

Absolutely thrashed them in every game.

I think Phil Mickleson might get himself a lie in tomorrow morning - maybe he could go and visit The Eiffel tower. He`ll probably find half a dozen of his balls down there !!

Fantastic performance.

Also, as much as the crowd can overstep the mark occasionally it is great to see the US crumble under the pressure. They missed more putts this afternoon than you would expect in a season from some of them.

Also, having seen some of their antics at previous Ryder cups sometimes you reap what you sow. Definitely not over yet but sport rarely gets any better, irrespective of the views of some of the more ignorant usual suspects on the other golf thread...

The European fans are saints compared to how it is out in the US.

Some very unsporting behaviour.

I put a bet on 15-13 Europe win. I very rarely bet on sport but had a lucky win on the correct margin Gleneagles victory four years ago.

Doug - I worked in Cardiff a few years ago and stayed in a hotel in Cwm Ciddy in Barry for six months.

Brains beer did my brain in.

Lovely place and once the people got to know us we were fine.

It's still not Paris though and I would have rather have been on that golf course today.

I see lots of grown men hitting a tiny ball with a stick and then chasing after it. Don't bother betting on it though. I've been told my tenner won't yield any success for that prediction.
