Golden Retriever dog names
Rightio, we’ve had a Rufus, a Samson, a Harvey and currently have a Boris. Picking up a new pup next week, still deliberating names although I personally like to spend a couple of weeks with them to ascertain an appropriate name.
Current faves are:
Elgar
Monty
Hugo
Dougall
Bruno
Finn
Any suggestions?

Ironically, the pup is from Blackburn but we are travelling up from West Sussex to get him, there is lineage with our other dogs over the years.

Re: Golden Retriever dog names
Sorry Rilybobs, my brother in law called my nephew Gary, unfortunately I associate that name with retards!
I hasten to add my brother in law is a retard rather than my nephew.

Re: Golden Retriever dog names
A few doors down from me seems to call their dog "shut the feck up"...
... seriously you can't go for Dougall - wrong size and type of dog... a bit like calling a pony Ermintrude .
Vince is a strong dog name.
off topic - Years ago a girlfriend of mine had a cat called Slocombe.
Genius!
(the cats' name not the girlfriend, she was daft)

Re: Golden Retriever dog names
Can't go wrong with "Rover". You need two dogs called Rover, actually - you'll never tire of saying "down, Rovers".

Re: Golden Retriever dog names
I think that "Fetch" would be appropriate. They would never forget that he/she was a Retriever with a name like that.

We have a Springer Spaniel called Charlie. Recently I have taken to calling him Bumweed. He seems to like it.

Re: Golden Retriever dog names
what a coincidence!
I am also picking up GR puppy next week from a show dog litter, found via champdogs website and currently debating what to call it.
My preference is Barney (after our Ashley!) or Boris ( on account of the hair!)
Rigsby, after Rising Damp, is also on the list.

Our Jack Russell of 14 years is called Lenny....after Mr Johnrose himself. A proper terrier with plenty of bite.

Jean Louie The Fourth
I often imagine a scenario that someone calls their dog something like Steve/John. The dog runs off and theres some idiot chasing it shouting “ Steve, STEVE, Come here Steve, STEVE”
