This is so likely to be another championship type game that I wouldn't even risk Defour.

Same team as at Cardiff with Defour coming off the bench after 60 minutes.

I reckon we will start again with the same team as we did against Bournemouth and Cardiff but sooner or later Defour and maybe Brady are going to be involved.

Just to add to my previous post on this, I am thinking about the City game as being a 4 5 1/4 3 3/4 1 4 1/4 4 1 1 with the front 6 being, Cork, Defour, Hendrick, JBG, Lennon and any striker from 4. These 6 players could play in any of these 4 formations. My memory maybe a bit fuddled but I recall watching Defour playing really well at City and then having to come off, was that last season. league or cup?

We won at Cardiff but let's not kid ourselves into thinking it was a quality team performance!! Defour is our best player by far and therefore he should start if he's fit. The issue is who do you drop? At the moment Cork is the one who's struggling, not Westwood, but are Westwood and Defour too similar? Cork and Defour had a fantastic understanding of each others game when they played together last season so I'd be tempted to leave Westwood out, as harsh as that is. But as I said, only if Defour is match fit. I'd stick with Vokes as well, he tends to score in bursts so hopefully his goal at Cardiff is the start of a little run.

Hendrick, despite being our best player earlier in the season might add a bit of composure to the midfield as well.

Cork was incredibly poor against Cardiff (who wasn`t except Hart/Gudmundsson to a lesser extent???) SO if team...sorry, group confidence and motivation is to be maintained, why wouldn`t Defour or...(can`t believe I`m typing this) Hendrick NOT replace him? Cork did nothing on Sunday and has been off the pace for a bit. I was quite frankly amazed Hendrick was `dropped`and believe you me. I am Not his biggest fan.

Hart

(the non-petulant) Lowton Tarkowski (hopefully) Mee (by the skin of his teeth) Taylor (possibly by default)

Gudmundsson Hendrick OR Defour Westwood Lennon (the `Bournemouth` version)

Vydra

Vokes

Does it HAVE to be an attritional game? I hope this is not our default setting??? You may very well be right but personally find that notion hugely disappointing.

Defour or Hendrick for cork personally.... have to have someone else in midfield who will look to get their foot on the ball and play forward or at least keep it especially at home to Huddersfield.

I think Defour will be on the bench, but I suspect more likely to get game time at home. He’ll only get sharp with time on the pitch so I hope he gets half an hour. Winning, drawing or losing after 60 minutes he’s a plus.
I would also rest Cork, he’s put a lot of graft on already considering it’s early October and he doesn’t look quite as fresh or sparky in possession. So for me:

Hart
Lowton
Tarks (if fit)
Mee
Taylor (hoping for improvement with time)
JBG
Hendrick
Westwood
Lennon
Vydra
Vokes
