Bradford City trials
I have just been sent an email from my lads school about going to Bradford City for a trial for the academy.
The cheeky gits charge every child £10 to be judged and most likely sent home saying sorry your not good enough.
Please tell me we don't recruit like this? Academy's have a bad enough name in youth football as it is.

The whole school I presume, mega money for them. I think it says limited to 150 places.Spike wrote:is this all the school or is it just your lad?
£1500 per day and how many schools in their catchment area?
Re: Bradford City trials
And if you get signed up ,you have to buy all the training kit out your own pocket as they don’t provide it, friends got 2 lads there has cost him bout 250 to kit them out !

If you have a nipper who really, truly is any kind of prospect, you won't need to go through this charade.

Leeds United are doing the same thing, I know someone who had trials at Leeds and had to pay £10 as well, I don't think it's a legal practice

Re: Bradford City trials
Just get it paid. Its probably £10+ a week to play for a local team. Or more for an hours session at a summer soccer school.
You never know. He might get spotted!

My lad has only just started playing for an u13s side. Late to the game by today's standards of kids playing from u6s.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Just get it paid. Its probably £10+ a week to play for a local team. Or more for an hours session at a summer soccer school.

After two games he was scouted and asked to go training at a local professional non league side. I reluctantly agreed as he has lots to learn and I didn't want him getting put off by playing with better kids and training in a lot more serious environment.
They have said he can keep playing for his Sunday side that he loves so we will see how it goes.

Local professional non league side? Hopefully they’ll be above City soon anyway - save your tenners!Quickenthetempo wrote:My lad has only just started playing for an u13s side. Late to the game by today's standards of kids playing from u6s.

Good luck. IMO they learn so much from playing for Sunday sides and schools with their mates. Shame that clubs dont see this.Quickenthetempo wrote:My lad has only just started playing for an u13s side. Late to the game by today's standards of kids playing from u6s.
