Re: Tarky in England squad
Ludicrous not to select Hart before Butland, McCarthy & Bettinelli.
He’s 31 but it looks like Southgate is finished with him.

Re: Tarky in England squad
take Hart out of the equation, how any serious football manager can still pick Butland is a complete joke
Re: Tarky in England squad
Not really ludicrous- fully expected.
He already knows what Joe Hart can do - he’s no intention of playing him before Pickford so might aswell look at other keepers in the set up.
Pretty similar to how Tom Heaton and Nick Pope got their chance - McCarthy been playing really well for Southampton.

Re: Tarky in England squad
Given Fulham have conceded 16 goals in 7 games you have to wonder how Marcus Bettinelli has earned a call up.
Re: Tarky in England squad
So Tark's will be playing Saturday.

It’ll be interesting to see. Without him we are down to our last two first choice centre halves.Jeffbfc wrote:So Tark's will be playing Saturday.

Re: Tarky in England squad
Good that Tarky retains his place, hopefully he will be able to shrug his injury off. Disappointing that Hart's not had a recall. The outstanding goalkeeper in the PL this season thus far. If he'd been Italian he'd hardly have reached his prime a la Buffon and Zoff. Englands loss our gain.
Re: Tarky in England squad
Have a look through the Premier League keepers and try and find an English keeper - just Burnley, Fulham and Everton whose first team keeper is English. Not surprisingly all 3 clubs have keepers who have been picked for England....its a position that the England are struggling with in the last few years.Falcon wrote:Given Fulham have conceded 16 goals in 7 games you have to wonder how Marcus Bettinelli has earned a call up.

What about Watford and Southampton?TVC15 wrote:Have a look through the Premier League keepers and try and find an English keeper - just Burnley, Fulham and Everton whose first team keeper is English. Re: Tarky in England squad
Wellbeck makes the squad which makes Hart’s omission a bizarre one

Hart isn't very good wide left.MRG wrote:Wellbeck makes the squad which makes Hart’s omission a bizarre one

Good decisions I think for the new call ups. Mason Mount and James Maddison have looked pretty decent this season.

I'm out of the loop. Until today i had never heard of those playersFactualFrank wrote:Good decisions I think for the new call ups. Mason Mount and James Maddison have looked pretty decent this season.
Re: Tarky in England squad
Mason Mount is a absolutely quality player! knew that as soon as I saw him play for chelsea against man city in the youth cup final, would like to see him in a bfc shirt on loan next season when Frank lampards Derby don't go up this season.FactualFrank wrote:Good decisions I think for the new call ups. Yep apologies - Southampton have their keeper in the squad and Ben Foster at Watford has said he does now want to play for England anymore.
Still not a lot of choice though.

Hart is better than all of em
Re: Tarky in England squad
Really don't rate Foster. He flaps a lot, and has got a big mistake in him.

Re: Tarky in England squad
Are we to assume from all this that Tarks is okay now? Or is he touch and go?
Re: Tarky in England squad
Yes, you'd imagine that Gareth Southgate wouldn't have picked him unless SD said he was fully fit. Which means he should play on Saturday.houseboy wrote:Are we to assume from all this that Tarks is okay now? Or is he touch and go?

Wolves fans are livid that Coady and Bennett were snubbed

Re: Tarky in England squad
I find the selection of Chalobah an oddity. He's only played 4 minutes League football this season I believe (+ a L Cup game) so that pick cant be a lot to do with game form.
Is he so good that he can be included without having much game time so far this season?

Re: Tarky in England squad
I'm a bit surprised Coady isn't in to be honest. Looks a good ball playing centre half which we know Southgate likes.nyclaret wrote:Wolves fans are livid that Coady and Bennett were snubbed
Re: Tarky in England squad
Think he said that the midfield choices were partly due to other players being injured.LeadBelly wrote:I find the selection of Chalobah an oddity. He's only played 4 minutes League football this season I believe (+ a L Cup game) so that pick cant be a lot to do with game form.
