Women in Football
Women in Football
I can’t help but notice that this season we seem to have a woman involved with presenting every televised game.
It all seems a little bit forced and if anything discredits women in football in that it feels like they are there to tick a box and not on merit.

Yeah, but most of them are white though, which just shows how unbalanced the choice is!

For-profit/public service sports broadcasters involving panellist/presenter whose sex is representative of up to 50 percent of potential audience = PC.

I've only seen 2 female pundits who talk well. Alex Scott and Sue Smith.

Re: Women in Football
On merit?
What merit?
I get that some women play football, but not to the standard they are involved in as pundits. By all means be a pundit on a womans game, but don't sit there spouting your high pitched shite about how Dele Alli played the wrong pass or how Mane held onto the ball a fraction too long.
Its a bloody bad joke...

Re: Women in Football
"As in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. Women should remain silent in the churches, They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church." Corinthians 14:33-35

Re: Women in Football
Sexist post of the year so far; Motson couldn't play football but was a fantastic commentator, there's no reason why a woman could not understand, commentate on, and assess a football match without ever having played the game.bobinho wrote:On merit?

I much prefer listening to Alan (I'll repeat everything) Shearer and Martin (my head was set on fire and put out with a claw hammer) Keown.

Re: Women in Football
Wonderful programme where men were men drank beer and women knew where the kitchen was...Where did it all go wrong?
Re: Women in Football
Pundits in football are chosen on merit. They’ve played at the level their talking about. Neville/Carragher/Henry etc did PL. Souness, Gullit CL on sky. FL pundits played most of their career in the FL. Shearer, Murphy, Neville, Wright on MOTD because they’ve played at that level. You wouldnt see Glen Little and Brad Maylett discussing CL because that would be silly. Womans football to mens football is a different thing.

Re: Women in Football
Personally I've nothing against women being pundits for football, especially those who've reached the highest level of the women's game.
They've had to be the best to get where they are and let's be honest they can't be any bloody worse than Michael 'boring' Owen
Besides, it's always amusing to see the cavemen on here.
