Congleton v Padiham abandoned due to racism and thefts

Today's game between Congleton and Padiham was abandoned - Padiham goalkeeper Tony Aghayere, who was a member of our youth team two or three years ago, was being racially abused and the players were having their wallets emptied in the dressing rooms while the game was being played.

Thoughts with Tony, he shouldn't have to deal with stuff like this.

This sort of thing makes you angry and despondent in equal measures. What is inbetween the ears of such primitive humans is beyond me. Hopefully Tony will know it's such a minority of people it's not worth getting mad about. Let the rest of us do that on his behalf.

I've played in games where wallets got stolen, and one where any Levi jeans got taken. But only ever found out either at half-time or the end.
Seems odd that a game would be abandoned due to a robbery, perhaps Jeremy Bentham can enlighten us.

I've been to congleton town twice as a bag man / physio and the changing rooms are tucked away in the corner. At that level there are usually club officials/ stewards that prevent spectators near the changing rooms. Ground grading / league rules probably state that changing rooms are out of reach / supervised so that is surprising that has happened at counties level.

Can't comment on the racism however the locals in congleton were a little bit different.

Rumour has it that they were Stoke fans that are banned from lots of grounds who pick different non league games to go to. Get drunk and act like dicks and move onto the next ground.
I was also told it was the Burnley striker and one of the Congleton players who complained to the ref.

Disgusting. But what good does come out of it is the support now offered to players who are victims to such belmtardery. These incidents are an isolated few now rather than the norm. Shows how much the football community has changed over the last 20 years. Just need Dwight Yorke to get a job now
