Vokes elbow?

Post by Sean Dyche's Watch » Sat Oct 06, 2018 7:56 pm

When Schindler was down for a few minutes I thought it was because the ball had hit him in the face, but I've seen news articles saying that Vokes elbowed him? Or is this a different incident that I've missed this afternoon?

Westwood smacked him in face with a shot, from my seat anyway.

Vokes elbowed him in the mush seconds before the shot was whacked at him. I dont think Vokes meant to injure him but he shouldnt be swinging his elbow as he did to hold off their player and could have been a red if seen by the officials

No contact from a Claret. Ref though played on hoping Huddersfield would score before stopping the game to allow paramedics to administer oxygen to an injured player.

Ah, looks like I've missed the elbow whilst I was watching the flight of the ball. I was wondering how a ball in the face caused so much of an injury.

Was it Vokes? Schindler thought Wood but says it was not deliberate- just creating space for himself and caught the lad. Credit to Schindler for taking it on the chin!

It looked like Wood on my stream but wasn’t a nasty elbow although it did catch his snozz. The shot then also hit him on the snozz and led to the delay. Why Kavanagh didn’t stop the game immediately we’ll never know.

Martin Keown on Final Score also said he thought Vokes had "done" Schindler.

However, if Schindler himself says it was "not deliberate", then OK.

Vokes smashed the point of his elbow full into the face of Schindler, as the the ball fell (Westwood?) got off a shot which cannoned straight into the unfortunate and still startled ,from the elbow, Schindlers mush. However it was the initial elbow that started the bloodbath

It looked a bit iffy to me. Vokes' elbow was a little early as they jumped. My first thought was that he would miss a few games after it was spotted. , but if the cut was caused by the shot, well that's okay.

Yeah I missed the elbow too. Just saw the ball cannon into his face and then he stumbled backwards and put his hand up to get attention then went down.

That big lump for Huddersfield that was fouling Tarky all game did him with a fore arm late in the game.

I'm not surprised as the ref just let everything go.

Didn’t see the incident well but fair player to Schindler for taking it on the chin and not blaming vokes. Also fair play for carrying on, seen a pic on Twitter and it looks a right mess

Was watching on tv. Definitely vokes elbow followed by a smash in the face from the ball

I was stunned he carrried on playing. The close up of Schindler’s face on live TV was not a pretty sight. Real credit to him for saying it was just a playing incident

I don't know about an elbow but that was another cracking header from him.

Need to stop playing him and Barnes as a pair though, not good enough.

Total accident, as was always to be expected of a gentle giant like Sam, and Wagner has gone down in my estimation for talking it into something it wasn't (or trying to).

From watching the replay on MOTD it looked totally accidental.

The majority of elbows are accidents just like a lot of bad tackles. If a player is swinging their elbow as leverage when jumping for the ball with an opposition player near by then this is potentially reckless and they have a responsibility not to elbow the opposition. Its just like when a play flies in for a tackle 100% going for the ball a little out of control but takes out the opposition potentially risking injuring them badly.

I dont think Vokes swung it hard enough to be reckless enough for a red card but it was definitely a booking and not far off a red. To use the excuse that it wanst deliberate isnt a defence when being reckless and out of control and had one of their players jumped with a swinging elbow and smashed up the face of one of our players Dyche and a lot of posters on here would have had a very different view of the incident
