He will stay until we start playing "free flowing attacking football" and stop that "boring negative football" we've endured for the last 6 years..all the way to a 7 place in the Prem L.

Sometimes you've got to be careful what you wish for. SD undoubtably represents our best chance of staying in the PL. That said, IMO we are going backwards and if it wasn't my team there's no way I'd watch this brand of so called football. Anyone thinking the return of Defour and Brady as having any immediate impact are IMO deluding themselves. We need leaders and strong personalities on the pitch and quite frankly I can't see too many at present.

Is this the board that got in Horseface, Howe and Dyche and whose only failure was Laws and that was down to timing?

In for me but I want the board to back him properly. I hate the football we are playing but we don't know which players he has asked to sign. If he wanted the lad Morrison who went to Leicester and they got him Vydra for example (nowt wrong with Vydra but as we didn't sign another attacking player he's the only one I can compare to) then Dyche really is fighting with both arms behind his back.

That's not to say that he can't get far better out of us by changing the style, his aversion to pace after all the seasons is the thing I find most baffling

Hang on a minute dyche bought jbg,Lennon, defour,Brady, more recently Gibson, Hart he has done this with limited resources , we can play free flowing football when the full team is available it's just at this moment we have two very good midfielders out , If Dyche went we would be relegated that season no question , dyche gets the most out of what he has , and when Brady and defour are back our playing style will be allowed to alter somewhat

I, for one, think the board are doing a great job in trying to keep us in this division whilst safeguarding the future of the club. Also, how many other clubs in the Prem and top half of the Championship don’t have a mega-rich sugar daddy?
This is the problem he isn't doing anything with the money!!

It's unbelievable that Garlick has made some of his money in recruitment apparently, yet hasn't developed a proper scouting system at his own club. How would his recruitment company do if they didn't scout for the right people?

We may have got better footballers in but playimg the same old crap system etc is what taking their quality away. JBG for instance would look 10x the player playimg for Bournemouth.
But I don't think Dyche makes the signings. He may identify what he wants but he obviously doesn't get them over the line. If he did we'd have a few more players in our squad.

And I think the current squad is technically better but that team would run this team ragged with work rate

I couldn't be ar@ed counting how many for in and how many out but the vast majority seem to be " happy" with SD. Although quite a few would like to see how this season pans out.
So that's that then, in SD we trust. Whens the vote over ?

This kind of thread separates out the safe preferrers of the status quo from the risk takers and everybody in between. So many people are saying “keep him, no matter what, give him a 10 year contract,we can’t expect better etc etc”. I shake my head at that kind of negativity in any walk of life.

But there surely has to be a minimum requirement. Our squad is valued by http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk as 14th in the Premier League. Lots of managers would be able to do well with a squad of our value, many playing better football. The squad value is a safety net that to the credit of Dyche and the board has been built up. I think the squad value is a better indication of our prospects than the bookies odds which are influenced more by who bets on who (I.e. who has more fans).

My own minimum requirement is maximum player effort, no relegation, an attempt to entertain (not always possible but a clear aspiration) and a proven desire (by selection) to try to win a cup. If he ticks those boxes he can stay. Not particularly difficult one wouldn’t think. If he doesn’t tick them (and he has failed on at least two this season) he can go.

So by all means say your preference is to keep Sean, but nobody should make it unconditional. It’s sillier logic than the people who are more demanding are showing, even though the latter tend to be the ones mocked for it.

IN 100%. Is the football great at the moment,no. Are we 12th in the league and on course to stay up,games played points amassed, yes. Some people have very short memories and if we said bye bye,we could be the next Stoke after they got shut of Pulis

it also separates the fantasists and the realists.

You'd have to have a history of ignoring reality for some daft idea that everyone who is an expert has said is mental.

So the people who want to enjoy watching their football team play are fantasists? I'd love to know how you define reality given absolutely nobody can say with certainty what would happen if Dyche left.

I have already posted my "in" reasons somewhere above, but I really can't understand the posters who think Dyche is the only manager in the world who can keep Burnley in the PL.

If and when he goes there will be many world class candidates who can and will fill his boots.

The current members of the board weren't the ones who employed SD and would not have an emotional reason to keep him employed.
He is employed to provide entertainment and results in equal quantities and I'm sure his present boss is quite a ware of that.

I'm not in the "sack the manager" camp, but if the only reason people have for not wanting change is the often stated "who else could keep us up?" then think again, there's a host of decent potential managers out there.

I actually think it rather insulting to SD that people think the only reason to keep him is that there are no alternatives.

No one is thinking that to be fair.

Who is the outstanding candidate who could run us from top to bottom and keep us competitive in a division where we are most definitely minnows?

Just watching The Scousers v Citeh

How boring is that?

Both teams worth Millions per player more than ours yet NOT A SHOT ON TARGET after 65 minutes!

Lots of passing backwards sideways and occasionally forwards, then back again.

Give me the Turf on a wet Tuesday night any day ;)

There will be some, I promise you.
But, as I said earlier, I'm not in the Dyche out camp.
There's a few things at the moment not helping: injuries, coaches leaving, first tilt at europe....
What we need is stability, in my honest opinion.

Fair enough

Reading the posts on here, they appear to want better football, us to do really well and spend all the money on players who will magically be available at our prices and within our budget.

Thats why I'm sceptical that we can do better.

And then someone else states the old lemon " Brian Laws"

Let's all not bother looking and talking, offer SD a 30 year contract and be happy ever after.
It's not a blinkered view at all. If Dyche was to leave there'd be plenty of understandable concern about whether there would be excellent candidates. Suggesting there'd be a cue of world class managers is naive in my view.

Looking at the stats we keep the ball and have a miles better individual pass completion % when we go 4-5-1. He needs to find a way to make that work. I’d go when all fit

Wouldn't either need or attract a so-called world class manager, just a decent one at PL level.
There would be candidates, there always are.
