Devon clarets
Apologies if I am repeating suggestions that have been raised in the past. After 64 years living in the north I have recently moved to Totnes in Devon. Which is a bit of a wrench. I just wondered if there were other clarets in and around south devon who would be interested in meeting up for a beer and a chat about all things Burnley and maybe arranging trips to games. For the record I went to my first game in 1961 so have a bit of history, both good and bad. Regards

Hello Martin...welcome to Devon, I now live in Torquay, moved up from Cornwall a couple of years ago ( hence the name ) having been born and bred in Read many years ago.
You will be surprised just how many of us Clarets are down here( and Cornwall ) Scud and Marty used to live in Devon, can't remember if it was totnes or Honiton and back in the day before the championship days even they used to organise the bus trips for home games, don't know where they are now,I lost touch unfortunately, but there are plenty of us down here

Hi Cornwall claret
Thanks for your reply - the only one so far. I am sure there are lots of us in the South West. My wife's mum lives in Torquay so we visit regularly - we went to a pre-season friendly there about 7 or 8 years ago. She read a book.
If it turns out there is no interest that's fine. I moved from Harrogate and there was a very active West Yorkshire Clarets group who met every month in a pub which was good fun, especially when there were Leeds United supporters in the place!
Cheers

There are a few around Paignton / Exmouth way that I know of. I’m “up north” near Barnstaple so probably a bit far to meet for a pint, Although if I’m down your way playing I’ll let you know.
Totnes used to have a team in our league but folded. As did Galmpton. I think the nearest to you would Be Teignmouth

I have family down in Paignton and Newton Abbot, In fact we watched the Olympiacos home tie in The Ship Paignton.
There was also another claret in there watching the game who we didn't know, and the family seem to know quite a few Clarets in and around the area.
Really surprised.

I’m watching the Newcastle match at the Exeter Inn in Topsham so If any of you want to join me you’re welcome, you probably know Topsham is about 7 miles north of Exmouth the 57 bus goes past the Exeter Inn or the train station is about 6/7 minutes walk away. Totnes and Torquay about 35 miles also served by train, anyone interested?

Totnes is a brilliant place to wander about with loads of independent shops and some VG pubs and eating houses.
Just to add I now have a ticket for one senior in the Bob Lord if anyone wants it at face value £25.

I wish BC - place full of Newcastle fans as well to my surprise, still a good night all round baring the result of course..at least the landlord was rooting for Burnley (he's from Rochdale) so not entirely out numbered

OK time for a heads up, as you know Burnley have 4 games in 4 weeks on Satelite TV coming up.
So as a 1st meeting pub I will suggest the Exeter Inn at Topsham again for the Brighton away game KO 5.30 tea time, it also coincides with the unofficial inaugural meeting of the BFCSWSC.
Any takers?

I've planted the Claret flag in the clubhouse of Bristol Manor Farm FC (that's near Sea Mills railway station in Bristol). They all follow BFC there, especially their chairman, Geoff Sellek. If you're in the area, stop by and have a pint in the clubhouse. Tell them that you're a Burnley fan and you'll probably get a free one, especially if Geoff's in the house.

The Farm's reserve team plays in the Bristol Combination. Their firsts play in the Southern League South and West Divisioin, which is the 8th tier of English football. I've been told (by their own management) that they're now considered the 3rd team in the hierarchy of Bristol football, but there are others who might claim the same. Anyways, a very friendly bunch, and you'd always be welcome.

Good chance that I might see you next week, because I'm booking a trip over tomorrow. Hope to leave here Sunday and be there for Monday. It would only be a bonus to see some bright, smiling Claret faces in the coming couple of weeks. Any takers. Anybody have a taste for Strongbow's hard cider. I think their clubhouse would do with a few renditions of "No Nay Never"!

When I first started to follow them, they were playing the odd year in the First Division (which actually means last division) of the Western League and getting average "crowds" of 61. They're come a long way since then.

Thanks, bb. I'll let Geoff know. You'll be one of the guys wearing a Burnley woolly hat. In Canada we call them "toques". It's from the French, meaning "woolly hat".

Uh oh. Just found out that the BMF clubhouse is only open for 3 hours every evening. I guess that's to cut down on the binge drinking. After the reaction to the Crouch signing, I'm sure there's been an upswing in binge drinking among the Burnley support.

Sorry if you showed up at The Creek today, Boatshed, but BMF had an FA Vase game at Willand Rovers that I knew nothing about. If you're in the area sometime in the next week and a half, stop by the clubhouse and I'll try to make it up to you.

Bournemouth is the closest, Cardiff was on TV, Southampton next nearest but personally Southampton is not a particularly a good day out , Brighton furthest away and to long to drive too. Brighton by train takes over 6 hours, also on TV.
I personally can’t see the sense of spending lots of money and time going to a match when it’s on at your local pub live, I much prefer having a couple of pints and some banter with the locals in comfort minutes away from home.

Hi all, sorry have only just noticed this thread. I have lived in Dawlish for about 40 years; my dad was from Burnley hence my support for the team. I generally get to to see one or two home matches each season and some away games.
