Croatia vs England

Post by FactualFrank » Fri Oct 12, 2018 11:56 am

I've just remembered that the game tonight is behind closed doors. Will you still be watching, or will the lack of an atmosphere make you watch something else?

I will be watching . Croatia are my footballing enemy now on the international stage. I hadn't forgive them for beating us at Wembley and then the semi final one just took the biscuit.

According to some on here, there`s a distinct lack of atmosphere on the Turf so it shouldn`t be a problem!! ;)

This is a mickey mouse tournament we should have avoided. If Rashford plays for England so should I.
He has one foot pace but no control at all.We would have been better carrying on our league fixtures

Rashford just missed two 'only the keeper to beat' sitters in the space of three minutes. Awful.

Croatia were racist in a previous fixture or more accurately extreme political views

It goes back two years to when their fans displayed a swastika, they eventually got a 2 match no fans ban, this is game 2.

Croatia had problems 2 years ago (not actually sure what I’m sure someone will tell us) with something and ordered to play behind closed doors.

It does show how important a crowd is at football - I hope someone takes note of that

it was because one of the groundsman cut a swastika into the grass, it had nothing to do with fans

English players are not good enough. Put whoever in charge and they would still be poor on the world stage. It's all about ball control and retention and for whatever reason we just don't have it.

Did he really cut a swastika into the grass?? That's ridiculous! And I would love to hear what their defence was. But bloody hell, I bet it took some skill.

Has anybody mentioned the fact that we had the better chances and there were no crowd, which undoubtedly have an impact on the performance.

Just checking.

Agreed Wile, facile dull unentertaining fare at best these friendlies..

Didn't bother with it, these international breaks need knocking on the head, the only way of doing that is by literally switching off so the TV companies realise it aint worth it.

People cry at friendlies. They try and create a mini tournament and they still wine about it. No crowd is the reason it was poor.

You just come onto threads about things you have no interest in, to tell us all that you aren't interested.

Makes total sense, that.

Weve played 8 games and had the season disrupted twice .Soon some fool will be calling for a winter break.
The only fixtures we should be playing in at international level are World cup qualifiers.
These would offer the least disruption to the season.

I thought England did quite well.

Hit the post, bar and missed two absolute sitters.

I would play Sancho on Monday though instead of Rashford if going with that system. I would prefer two creative players either side of Kane and keep him in the box.

Don't think crowds or atmosphere play a part myself, just a clear lack of ability & hunger, it was broadly discussed when we crashed out of the WC, not enough homegrown youngsters getting regular domestic league/Cup gametime, bigger clubs to blame really.

In your opinion. Which I think is ridiculous.

Even the commentators/pundits suggested they thought no crowd impacted the players. They are human - of course it will have done. No crowd on your back to fire you up.

But people just seem obsessed with commenting on England being poor, friendlies being pointless (even though this wasn't a friendly), yet still watch it and complain. If you don't like watching England - simply don't watch it. Nobody is forcing you, you know.

We were better than Croatia tonight and created more clear chances. And they got to the final of the World Cup.

Just saying.

Whatever way it's dressed up a draw is a draw, the performance may have been good never even watched it so credit to you for doing so if you did. I was just talking generally nobody seems to be bothered anymore until Euros or WC emerge then same recycled hype once the inevitable happens. I'm patriotic towards France & England but don't get overly excited.
