Restaurants in London

Post by MRG » Sat Oct 13, 2018 8:35 pm

Got a weekend in London booked. Anybody got any recommendations for a nice restaurants that won’t break the bank.

For the Saturday night we would like somewhere that does nice bit but is also suitable for drinks and music afterwards

London's a big place MRG. Can't help sorry, I always go on TripAdvisor to get an idea. Must be some Southern based clarets who will come along with ideas.

The southbank could be the place to be no specifics there's lots going on in the evening.

There's a well frequented texmex place on Gloucester Road, near the tube station does great ribs, tacos, etc, quite cheap. Forgot its name, but that certainly won't break the average budget. Really good nosebag.

Hi MRG, so, where are you staying? what else are you doing? and, who is "we?" is this a football/mates outing? couple(s)? (I assume not Mum and Dad and young kids).

I might be able to give you an idea or two. Central London is one thing - and then you've got all the different districts as you move out of the centre.

You will have to go south of the river but it's on the tube and only zone 2. Really cool place, downstairs for good food (book in advance) then head upstairs for the awesome in house brass band. Really powerhouse stuff, inc some great covers.

Iconic Jazz Bar. Eat somewhere else, it's overpriced, china town is 3mins walk away.

Just food, great American BBQ, 7 of these dotted around town.

German Beer Hall. Great drinks, delicious food (Currywurst!) and an Oomaph Band Fri & Sat. Gets lively late on

If you don't want to break the bank I'd look at pre-theatre meals (generally getting there about 5.30-6.30). What type of cuisine are you looking for? When you say central, exactly where?

I'd opt for drinks and music elsewhere. What type of music?

OMG you are in the capital of the world. try Blacklock in Soho or the City for burnt stuff, Hawksmoor is great, and for a whacky experience
try Sketch on Conduit St which runs between Regent St and Berkeley square. Then again try the street food at Borough market.

Pretty sure there’s a decent Pizza Express in London, near the middle.
