You want a really mixed up royal family, check out Denmark. The current queen (who is half-Swedish) married a Frenchy, and their children (two boys) married a Chinese woman from Hong Kong (the younger one), and an Australian that he met at the Olympics in 2000 (the heir apparent, Frederik). The younger one has since divorced (you're allowed to do that in a Lutheran country), but what the next king/queen will look like is anybody's guess. Certainly won't be the stereotypical blond with high cheekbones. Meanwhile, Margrethe II remains as popular as ever, chain-smoking her way through life, and riding her bike along the top of the old fortifications without the benefit of security forces.

And don't forget the influence of the Danes on the royal house, Corky. Queen Alexandra was Danish, and Philip, although technically Greek, was also one generation removed from his Danish royal origins. But where Randy Andy sprang from, I have no idea. Seems that the Queen might have had a bit of a fling, herself, maybe with a commoner from the East End. Princess Margaret was renowned for being a libertine, and the acorns never fall far from the tree.

I've forgotten what century we're in: dukes? lords? earls?
We really are clinging to the past.
Also love the idea that one overpaid law endorsing monarch can save us from another (elected) one.

Part of my family is descended from a Scottish baron, Millertime. He forgot to duck at Bannockburn, and thus became only one of two named Scots to die in the battle. The remainder of the Scottish casualties were part of the "rabble". But you probably already knew that (the rabble part).

Mate I know the story all too well. It's a small world. I'm one of the decendents of Bill Miller, Robert the Bruces right hand man during the Battle of Bannockburn. And you don't need to tell me about dealing with the rabble.
I wrote the book on it bud. Spent years trying to keep rumps and tup in check. A thankless and fruitless task, hahaha!

It seems they dont really cost us anything.
Also, they pay income tax, unlike most of the people who constantly complain about how privileged they are.
I don't care much for them myself. I have no interest in their offspring or their weddings, but I'll take them over many of the work shy, free loaders we have in this country any day of the week

I've never been to Scotland, millertime, but to get to Bannockburn before I kick the bucket is on my list of things to do. When I saw online that Sir William Vipond was one of two named Scots to die in the battle, the other being the Duke of Argyle, I almost sh*t myself. As the present William Vipond, it was mind-blowing.

And I've always wanted to ask a Scotsman this question. Have you ever heard of a bloke named Dougie Vipond?
