Our away attendances this season
Our away attendances this season
Following the panic that some people had when the club announced that they'd only taken 1200 tickets for West Ham, I've just had a look at our followings for our first 4 away PL games this season -
Southampton 1242
Fulham 1509
Wolves 1245
Cardiff 719
Will be interesting to see if we sell out for Man City and what allocation we take for Leicester. Maybe the novelty of the PL is wearing off for some of our fans!

Not the best games to judge on especially all being on Sundays but the novelty will wear off unless something exciting happens.

I reckon so. The novelty of watching the big teams is wearing off plus your team defending and seeing none of the ball away from home probably adds to that.Leisure wrote:Following the panic that some people had when the club announced that they'd only taken 1200 tickets for West Ham, I've just had a look at our followings for our first 4 away PL games this season -

Sad thing is we had something new and exciting in the Europa league which we decided to throw away to concentrate on the mundane prem which we have now seen before. Shame really.

I know we have earned the right to be here on merit but you can see why people would rather have the well supported big clubs like Leeds, Derby and Villa in the Premier league over the poorly supported little clubs like us, Bournemouth and Huddersfield

Out of the way for most clubs ? United City Liverpool Everton and Huddersfield are all within an hour. As for the area being run down....have a look round City's surrounds on Saturday. The fact that our away games have been on a Sunday at the other end of the country mainly explains things.

Liverpool, London and Manchester are far easier places to get too and have much more going on in their city than our crappy little town. If you think most fans would rather come to Burnley than go to the three teams you mentioned then keep taking those drugsSpijed wrote:I hardly think the area around Anfield, Spurs, Man U. etc is anymore attractive.

We regularly chat to away fans in the pub pre-match, they love coming to Burnley. Cheap beer, a proper ground, a welcome change from the usual big stadium guff. You should get out and talk to people more, instead of sniping on here all the time.Devils_Advocate wrote:Liverpool, London and Manchester are far easier places to get too and have much more going on in their city than our crappy little town. There's a few reasons why our attendances have been poor
Southampton 1242 Sunday in the middle of europe long trip first away game of the season
Fulham 1509 4 o'clock sunday kick off never hardly get a result 3 days after a european game
Wolves 1245 live on sky and on a sunday one point gained from 5 fixtures
Cardiff 719 4 o'clock live on sky

What DA is saying is Burnley is **** after the game. The stadium is cool for visiting fans. But fans who enjoy the before and after the football drinks the town is generally a pain to get out of. Train/Bus options aren't great and the drinking spots shite too. For some fans is more than 90 minutes and dint just want to be coached in/out straight away

Its simple the Premierleague novelty has worn off. We have played all the biggest teams away numerous times now. There is no away day that excites me anymore other than B@stard Rovers. Its the norm for us now they arent as big of games as they would of been in our first PL season.

Cardiff away, I believe, was only the 2nd time in our Premier League seasons (80 games) that we have taken less than 1,000 away. The other game being Swansea last season.Longside4evr wrote:There's a few reasons why our attendances have been poor

The Cardiff game also coincided with the final day of the Ryder Cup, which had an effect. I’m sure when we have a decent run of Saturday away games things will pick up.

The figures are hardly a true reflection , taking into account bloody long journeys on a Sunday and the Cardiff game Sunday afternoon Sky match those numbers ain’t too shabby . Thought we’d take 1500+ to WH though so surprised only 1200 ticks , though ground a bit shoite.

Unless performances improve and by that I mean the team actually retaining the ball longer than 5 seconds then home attendances will be next.
Not that it matters as with the sky money we dont even need fans to make money, hence Garlick and Dyche not being interested in signing flair players that have fans on the edges of their seats.

The X43 from Burnley Bus Station to Victoria / Deansgate takes an hour and runs every 15 minutes. Surely everybody could cross their legs for that long?

Northern Fail being on strike every Saturday hasn't stopped me just booking two train tickets to Spurs. Or we could have gone on one of the supporters club coaches. Or flown down. Or driven.
You are kind of missing the point I think.

Re: Our away attendances this season
Not really there has also been a discussion around Burnley being an unattractive away day for other fans with one of the arguments that Manchester is an easier city to get to. A few people if I have understood correctly are using the example of the poor train services to get from Burnley to Manchester as an example of Manchester being difficult to get to but this further backs up the original point that getting in and out of Burnley isn't great compared to a lot of other places.tybfc wrote:Read the thread title. AWAY ATTENDANCES.

Now if I've misunderstood and the poster is making the point that the reason Burnleys away attendances have been crap is because that rail journeys out of Burnley and back in are rubbish then that's a fair point.
Finally topics like this talk about people on the whole and averages and don't revolve around you and what you like or are willing to do which really hasn't got much relevance
