Lineup

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Sat Oct 20, 2018 2:08 pm

Hart
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
Lennon Cork Defour Hendrick JBG
Vokes

Happy with that. As good as we can go against City I think.

Barnes might have been a good option but Vokes is in form and has earnt the right to start. Hopefully He can hold it and Lennon and JBG can support him.

Id liked to have seen Hendrick in for Westwood to give us some legs between midfield and attack but apart from agree its about the best we put out based on current form.

I hope Wood gets his form back cos once Defour and Brady are back in I think we'll be able to move it about on the deck better and thats where Wood looked better than our other strikers the first half of last season

Edit: Just seen the line up on the other thread so happy days for me

Going to be a lonely day for Vokes.

Even better. Someone had just text me that lineup.

Think Hendrick is a very good choice!

Sam won't be lonely, he'll be doing what he always does very well - helping out in defence for corners - and, if things really go our way he will get that one header on target from a cross from out on the wing.

Great to see Steven Defour back.

I disagree entirely, I personally think Westwood has been one of our best players this season. Deserves his place.

Defour has replaced Westwood and Hendrick has come in to play the Vydra/Barnes role. If you think Westwood deserves to keep his place then thats fair enough but that would mean leaving out Defour

I wasn't disagreeing with who's been swapped for who, just I feel it would be unfair on Westwood to drop him after how well he's played. :)

Defour won’t play the full 90 , purely playing to get his match fitness

Is Vydra injured or otherwise unfit? Seems strange not to play a natural number 10 in that position, and he also offers pace and would likely be a goal threat, unlike Hendrick. Not the best tactics again. No issues with a defeat, but we seem to have lost the best part of our game. Cannot defend and lose concentration extremely easily. Don’t work as a team. Bad day at the office again, but not unexpected. Still hope we can finish 17th and believe we will......just!

Line up worked fine for 55 minutes today, until circumstances ripped it up.

Hendrick had an excellent game as the third central midfielder, and we looked to get JBG and Lennon alongside and beyond Vokes when we could, which is a more logical way of deploying that midfield 5. I thought it showed a bit of promise, again.
