Re: Clegg to Facebook
In the " Sunday Times ", Paddy Ashdown has stated that by taking up his new position with Facebook, Nick Clegg is in danger of ruining his reputation ... I was not aware of any reputation left to ruin ....
Lib Dems blame him for taking them into coalition with the Tories in 2010, and then being wiped out in 2015..
Labour voters despise him for propping up the Tories...
Tories dislike him for blocking Tory policies during the coalition ...
UKIP voters can't stand him because he's both a " Remainer and Remoaner " ..
Greens don't like him because the L/D's take votes off them ...
SNP & Plaid voters don't care for him because he's English & went to Public School ...
He's previously worked for the EU, and is due a Pension from them ( rarely mentioned ) and then there's this, from 2007 or so ......

Re: Clegg to Facebook
I like him. The fact that the Tories couldn't wait to get rid of him is evidence that he stopped them doing a lot of scumbag Tory ****.

Re: Clegg to Facebook
Paddy Ashdown doesn't like him because he was the only LibDem leader to actually work in government. Something the insufferably pompous Paddy Ashdown was never even close to doing. Granted he totally sold out any principles he might have had to get there, but get there he did. When you actually look at the calibre of Liberal and LibDem leaders since the 60s you have:Imploding Turtle wrote:I like him. Jeremy Thorpe - enough said.
David Steele - "Go back to your constituencies and prepare for government" - OK
Paddy Ashdown - refer to opening paragraph
Charles Kennedy - great politician, flawed character, best of a pretty poor bunch
Menzies Campbell, Vince Cable - hard to decide who is the more slimy between these 2 clones
Tim Farron - Janus
Nick Clegg - Metroman who was blinded by the light.

It's never easy being politically in the middle. You get it from both sides. A lot like being in middle management, commercially speaking. Why try to be a pragmatist when you can spout mindless jargon over and over again?

Re: Clegg to Facebook
On Friday, The Grauniad carried an article penned by NC entitled "I’m joining Facebook to build bridges between politics and tech"
So- nothing to do with the fine California climate and huge salary then (£1 million per year + share options & bonuses- according to a later Graun article).
I dont suppose living in the USA (working for a tax-dodging multinational) will stop the guy advising us all in the UK what we should and shouldn't vote for or do though (as per David Milliband).

Used to be hugely popular with young people until they got sick of the lies.
But enough about Facebook, they don't like Nick Clegg either.
