BTSport say Sane dives, should be FK to us.
Ref puts whistle to lips, players start appealing.
Ball goes out of play.
Silva crosses out of play ball from an offside position.
We were outclassed but what kind of officiating is this?!

Almost as bad as our defending. And the moment that killed the game.

Re: 2nd Goal
Replay I saw ball looks like it was in play. It may look out but all it needs to be still in play is the very edge of the ball to be over hanging the very edge of the byline. 99% of the ball can be over the line but still its in play (just look at corners nowadays to the naked eye the ball always looks outside the quadrant
Unless MOTD freeze frames it and gives us an angle like they do for the goal line decisions I dont think you can say either way. In the spirit of the game im sure the benefit of the doubt goes to the attacking team so fair goal and only ourselves to blame. Just thankful we've done it in a game we were gonna lose anyhow

Sane is a cheat anyway. Does it every match, with his diving and trying to get players booked.
The Guardiola will come out with the rubbish that his players need protection.

I've seen the replay as well and it looks out if youre not thinking of it in the terms ive described. The replay doesnt show it side on or from directly above so you cannot say for sure.ElectroClaret wrote:The bods on Radio Lancs say they've seen the replay and it's completely out of play.
Im 60-40 it was still in but it needs some proper analysis with the right freeze frames and camera angles

Refs do this a lot and our players shouldn't be looking at the ref they should be looking at the ball. If this would have happened up the other end you would not be blaming the ref over the Man City defenceIanMcL wrote:Because ref put whistle in his mouth to blow, then didn't.

But it didn't! Man City fans would do their job, if that was the case!

If we were through on goal we wouldnt (at least I hope we wouldnt) stop until the whistle went. It was shocking defending. But still doesnt excuse the shocking reffing and awful cheating!!! (again from City)

As Silva is offside the ball being in or out of play is completely irrelevant.

Re: 2nd Goal
Game after game we are conceding goals from either crosses coming into our box because we are defending narrow and not getting out to shut the crosser down quickly enough or not getting out quickly enough to close the ball down at the edge of the box.
It's no coincidence that opposing teams are on a game to game basis playing the ball down the flanks and swinging cross after cross into our box.
How many have we conceded with either of those two issues mentioned above this season? 80%?

Re: 2nd Goal
Absolutely irrelevant that the referee put the whistle to his mouth. The players should be watching the ball and not the referee. It was amateur defending and was painful viewing. The ball didn't look to go out of play to me although I'd be interested to see a better replay. Likewise, I haven't seen a replay that shows that Sane dived but if he did then the referee should of course have stopped play and shown Sane a yellow card.
Edit - we lost our heads during that goal and in the aftermath and City duly punished us with a third goal when we were still all over the place. Shame, because up until then I thought we'd given a good account of ourselves.

This, from what I've seen the ball was definitely in play because the whole ball has to be out - not just the bit in contact with the grass.Devils_Advocate wrote:Replay I saw ball looks like it was in play. Thats the most contentious part of it all in my opinion. I've not seen a replay that has a wide enough view to show all the players in one shot but reckon that could be the bit the linesman really screwed upTHEWELLERNUT70 wrote:I actually thought Silva was miles offside before crossing the ball as the ball came off Sane when he was challenged

Stream I had it on showed view from behind the goalline. Looked more in than out but why was Cork in casting for the Easter play, cross scene? He was expecting the pen and he’s looking pleading to Moss.

Course you can there's green under the ball so unless it was mid air (was it?) then it has to be fully overthe line

Not true. The part of the ball that is in contact with the ground does not account for the entire circumference of the ball.Claretmatt4 wrote:Course you can there's green under the ball so unless it was mid air (was it?) then it has to be fully overthe line
Re: 2nd Goal
Out of play or not / offside or not / our players not playing to the whistle - all irrelevant.
The game should have been stopped and a free kick to us and Sane booked for diving - he’s a f’in disgrace is that cheating c-unt but will just carry on doing it as no reason for him to stop.

Re: 2nd Goal
I thought it was possibly out and probably offside. But Cork's reaction makes me think it was probably a pen too (he's protesting a but too much, too soon) and in any event the problem doesnt arise if either one of 6 outfield Burnley defenders does the basics, or if Hart doesnt needlessly take himself out of the game.
If ive a real gripe with the officials today, its for thr fsct Kompany wasn't sent off after 90 seconds. Hit Lennon with force, studs up, on the inside of the Knee. If its Mee on De Bruyne, Pep goes ballistic.

Re: 2nd Goal
Totally disagree, the way Sane goes down it doesnt look like a dive to me. Looks like he lost his footing or more likely got caught and lost his footing. Whether the contact was enough for a pen im not sure but you can go down without it being a foul or a diveTVC15 wrote:Out of play or not / offside or not / our players not playing to the whistle - all irrelevant.

So you'd be happy for refs to give decisions against Barnes just cos he dives and cheats a lot? I was very close. I thought the ref blew his whistle. He pointed to what I initially thought was the spot but now I think he gave a goal kick, thinking the ball was out of playmorpheus2 wrote:Looks like our defenders claim they heard the whistle blow to me.
Looked like it didn’t cross the line to me but I thought he blew and I thought Silva was offside
And it killed the game. We were hanging in with occasional attacks that threatened

You think he dived and as I originally said based on what ive seen I dont think he did. You could have just left it at that in the first place
Re: 2nd Goal
If I want to bring in his reputation as a cheat into the discussion I will - for someone who posts so much f’in sh-ite on this board you are hardly in a position to tell people what they should post.
The guy is a cheat and he should have been sent off when he had a tantrum and swiped out at Lowton - that should have been his second booking.
As for bringing Barnes into the debate and calling him a diver and a cheat as you have done - when as he ever dived and tried to get a penalty. When has he actually ever dived outside the area ?
Feel free to post the footage to substantiate why you are slagging off one of the players for the team you support

Re: 2nd Goal
Wish they would have analysed Sane’s dive more. Why did he go down like that if he was not caught ?
I am assuming he was not caught as they would have shown that and said it should have been a penalty - kind of justifying the second mistake (or just rewards etc)
Pretty fair analysis on MOTD and not even a debate as to whether the goal should have stood or not - they all agreed it should not.

It is as bad a decision as I've seen from an assistant all season because it really isn't close. And if he really has told Joe Hart that he's switched off, that's absolutely ridiculous. And in any case, the game should have been stopped for the dive.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote:How asleep was the linesman (Hart said in the linesmans apology ) to have missed Silva going off the pitch and coming back on 5 yards offside and the ball being half a yard out of play
