Jeff's Tackle
So, after the Kompany red card or not saga on the other thread let's get round 2 going, what is everyone's opinion on the yellow card of Jeff coz noone seems to have brought that up; his boot and studs were high and he went in hard and didn't look too in control. I haven't seen it back but remember watching at the time and thinking that it was quite a reckless and dangerous challenge, thoughts?

Re: Jeff's Tackle
Yellow card correct decision. Not as high and out of control as Kompany’s.

Re: Jeff's Tackle
Should have been off for that, as should Kompany for his.
It's fair to say Moss had a poor game.

Kompany's was far worse - nearly removed Lennon's wedding tackle.

Re: Jeff's Tackle
Neither was a red card.
Sounds like some people will never be happy until tackling is completely outlawed- Yet another reason why football is disminishing as a spectacle IMO

Sane’s was insane!
Three up and Lowts going nowhere disgusting play and the guy is a diving cheat as well

Hopefully kept it in his pants
Re: Jeff's Tackle
Kompany was not a red card for two reasons. One, it was in the first minute; two, he was a Man City player playing at home; three, Moss was the referee. If only two of those three had been true, he might have been sent off, but with all three being true he could have gone in worse than that and got away with it.
Hendrick was not a red card because Moss had already set the boundaries and couldn't in all fairness change them. I don't think he's a cheat, just incompetent. Kompany's non-sending off was because he hadn't got the nerve, not because he favoured City.
Sane's - that's an interesting one. As referees never have to explain anything, we'll never know what was in his mind. But presumably he considers that kicking someone from behind, however hard and deliberately, will only ever count as a trip if the ball is vaguely in the vicinity. He's incredibly wrong, but (coupled with the colour of Sane's shirt) I bet that was the internal justification.

Re: Jeff's Tackle
I find that statement baffling, foot high studs showing how is that not a reckless tackle, doesn't matter what time of the game it is, he is a highly talented international professional footballer and shouldn't be tackling like that.Winstonswhite wrote:Neither was a red card.

If that would of been the other way round pep would still be grouching now.

Re: Jeff's Tackle
We were a long way from the Hendrick incident live, but my immediate reaction was yellow and the City players' reaction (usually a decent indicator) suggested that it was only a yellow too. Admittedly lots of City fans might say that of the Kompany one but the fact neither Sky nor BBC deemed it worthy of their highlights packages, together withe fact Pep didnt comment on it, suggests a yellow might have been about right.
Re: Jeff's Tackle
Refs are not allowed to undermine the money clubs. Premier League depends on them and refs are servants of the Prem.
