Claiming Flight Delay Compensation - Advice & Knowledge Required!
Hi guys
Just putting this out here looking to see if anyone is knowledgeable about this situation.
Essentially I AM definitely entitled to compensation under EU law however, I'd like a bit of advice before I proceed because I don't want to muck things up and get it wrong and end up diddling myself out of what I can claim.
My flight delay was on the first leg of a two leg journey from Istanbul to Paris, via Athens. The original delay was only 1 hour and a bit but the subsequent delay to my arrival destination was consequently well over the 4 hour threshold to qualify for compensation.
The flight was booked as a single journey with the same booking reference, the airline staff admitted it was their fault (because of the delay in the first flight) that I missed the connection (confirmed by their staff on the day and evidenced by them giving me a free ticket to complete the journey) and it was booked in the EU with an airline registered in the EU (Agean Airlines).
So without doubt, having read the rules, I am entitled to compensation - 400 euros to be precise.
I don't want to claim through one of those websites who deal with the claim for you because it should be straightforward enough and they all want to take 75% of my compensation for the privilege of doing so.
What I'm looking for is a reputable template letter that I can fire off myself which is specifically designed for two leg journeys in which a delay in the first leg results in a larger delay completing the second leg.
There are lots of templates for single leg journeys but I can't find one for my specific circumstances.
So what I'm asking is if anyone knows of a specific template that could help me OR if anyone works in the legal industry they could offer some advice on how I should re-word one of the standard single leg template letters.
Any help or advice will be gratefully received.
Thanks in advance and UTC!

Just having a look on their website, use the form in the above link (hope it works) to start off with. I would explain like you have already done the situation in the comments section. They should respond back positively.

Once delayed for 18 hours with easy jet. Fair play to them they gave us the necessary paperwork to complete and from memory we got €400 euros each. Won't be happening in future if brexit ever takes place, will get €0.

First time I've read of any plans to scrap compensation for things like this. It's O/T of course but I don't suppose you're a member of the cabinet are you?NL Claret wrote:Once delayed for 18 hours with easy jet. Delayed 4 hours in Amsterdam Schipol in September due to failure of the Airconditioning on a flight back to Manchester. Put in a claim through KLM website and got £610 in flight vouchers (£305 each for me and the mrs).... wasn't expecting that so are having a break in Holland in April for just the cost of the hotel etc....

Once had an 8 hr + delay, Manchester to Ibiza, with Jet2. Did the Martin Lewis template, and basically got told to **** off by Jet2, they claimed "operational difficulties ". Went on-line to a company of solicitors who specialise in flight delay claims, Bott & Co. Ok, they took their cut but I still came out with £270, which was £270 more than I would ever have got doing it myself.

Easy jet flight was delayed from Bilbao to Manchester it was over 3 hours that is stipulated for claims
I received £300 back claiming on the online claim form

Slightly concerned that all these claims just put flight costs up and might cause planes to take off with minor faults just to avoid compensation claims.

Slightly off thread.
For those who don't know. If you have to let flights go. For example, if sky have moved the Liverpool match to Wednesday, you can claim back your tax and charges. Unfortunately for me Ryanair charge €20 paperwork so not viable.

I had a delay this year of 3 1/2 hours. I used a website called resolver, it is completely free and they do all the work for you. It took around 2 weeks and we got just over £1400 compensation.

Planes can, and do every day, take off with minor faults. It won't cause any flights to take off with faults that aren't permitted though as it would cost an airline a hell of a lot more than a couple of hundred quid per passenger.bfcjg wrote:Slightly concerned that all these claims just put flight costs up and might cause planes to take off with minor faults just to avoid compensation claims.

I'm £100+ out of pocket because of it, had a whole lot of inconvenience and had to spend an entire night walking round a dodgy area of Paris.

My flight from Manchester to Boston via Iceland was delayed and I missed my connection so had to spend a day in Iceland all meals and transport paid for though.
I got 400 euros back using resolver very easy and straight forward

Hi Rowls - Hope that you're keeping well? We were on an Easy Jet flight in June to Montenegro which arrived just over 6 hours late due to a technical problem. We just filled in an online form and received compensation within about 3 weeks. The amount we received was twice what we had paid for the flights!

Followed your advice, so thank you for that. Been back, read it again.Rowls wrote:Erm, best to read the thread properly before posting questions that have been answered.
Why do you need compensating?
There was a delay, it caused you a delay, they got you another flight that was paid for by them, so cost you nothing. I can understand incidental expenses being taken care of, (if you hadnt planned on eating for the whole duration of the journey) but why is there a need for compensation? Compensated for what?
If you missed a day at work and the subsequent wages, I get that, but I don’t get what the compensation is for when it’s just paid as a standard payment?

There is an app called "Resolver" which is free and takes no commission. I used it to get compensation from Vueling Airlines without any problem at all. It makes things easy.
