Victor Moses: apparently wants a move from Chelsea. Wages might be an issue but the same surely held for Hart? Also the issue seems to be playing time rather than the desire for a payday. No stranger to the northwest either having played for both Wigan and Liverpool.

Barely featuring. Signed him injured. From the championship. Unproven at this level. Doesnt look like a Dyche striker.

I like him. Looks tricky, quick and direct. What we need. But its looking puzzling.
This is way too early. Firstly, it isn't like Dyche has form for bringing players in and introducing them slowly. Brady was in and out of the team in his first few months. Tarks had to wait a year. Ward had to wait months. Barnes only got in the side when Vokes got injured. And so on. Even before we mention the fact he had a niggle initially.

Secondly, as others have said, its nothing like Wells. He's already started 2 or 3 games. I was surprised he was dropped v Huddersfield but I agree with the poster who said that's the only game he might have started which he hasn't - particularly given his injury.

He looks to me like a good player who has a bit about him, and he reminds me a bit of Ings (which makes the idea he's not a Dyche type striker look a bit baffling to say the least). But he needs time to adjust to this level and his ball retention hasn't always been as good as perhaps we'd want it during the games he's played.

If Vydra needs game time to get up to speed then where is the logic in putting Barnes on ahead of him at City when the game was already over?

Would be a brilliant signing. Unfortunately United are in for him.

To be honest we haven't a clue which of our strikers to play at the minute we are very hit and miss in this department all being down to the fact we haven't found our rhythm of play yet its amazing really.
It's been all to mishmash through all departments apart from one solid position of goalkeeper. And that's all to do with so much pressure that we are soaking up that he's over worked.
Midfield is a problem we need a govevener their to lead and be ruthless as we are a bit toothless in their.
We are lacking a wide player to put a quality cross in and beat a player so the strikers can feed on
We lacking a playmaker on the left more than anywhere as Taylor as not got the quality at this level to get forward and help, with Lennon in front it's a big weak area until Brady gets back up to scratch and we can splice this area at the moment there is only Gudmundsson capable from dead balls Defour will help this area once he's back up to scratch.
I feel we need a left back just to bed in if nothing else once we get Brady back in to sort the left side out Taylor will get better as he will grow in confidence with better player in front of him.
The front area is a difficult one we can't be doing with anymore Chumps players we have six strikers on our books an incredible amount of money to be laying out and five goalkeepers, we need to off load we are top heavy we need to tight knit these areas as we are all over the show with them not sure what's what and it must affect the players as we have swapped and changed a lot this season trying to find the right formula and its not worked
From the goalkeeping position and Strikers we can afford to off load 4 players get some money in plus all the wages and buy the best striker we can afford
Out of the strikers i couldn't care it could be any of the six but probably Wells if QPR are interested Barnes could also follow we are stuck with Walters with injury but get a good price on Wood and i wouldn't bat an eyelid.
That would freshen up the side and breath new life and a lot of new ideas to work on get the right players into these positions and we have a very good side with what we've got.
It all depends on if the club is prepared to show ambition and gamble if we are struggling by the time the transfer window comes round and that's a very big if that we will fill these positions with fresh blood.

Takes as a whole - Barnes' record is around one in five, Vokes' around one in six and Wood is one in three (but the only way seems to be up on that front).

Do we need better? Yes we do.

More likely to sell a keeper or 2.

The squad is short, we’ve money to spend, summer recruitment wasn’t great, we are improving the recruitment team and we may need reinforcements to help keep above the danger zone.

I’d be amazed if we didn’t bring at least a couple in.

Seeing as he's scored tonight and he played against us in a U23 game last week - we were very strongly linked with Kemar Roofe when he was at Oxford - along with Callum O'Dowda who signed for Bristol City where he's the team mate of Marlon Pack - combative midfielder with a Cheltenham connection - linked in the earlier years of SD's reign.

Would have thought the age/profile/dynamic/athleticism of these players could potentially set down a marker in terms of the direction our squad might need to be headed to equip ourselves for (what will be) a medium/longer term survival battle.

I dont like Tom Lawrence, solely by the fact he looks like a proper whiny, sulky bitch

Imagine if we signed those 3 you mention...how underwhelming would that be!?

You do realise we are in the Premier League, right? Just want to check.

Finding a striker who can score 12 goals a season (year after year) would be great for Burnley but probably not good enough for the big clubs to come knocking.
We like older, experienced players, also less likely to be wanted by the big clubs so someone like Defoe or Benteke

Let those two serve as a warning, imagine the wages they're on.

Incidentally if we signed him in January it’s around the same time the ball is expected to land from his shot at Ewood.

Yes, and in danger of following the pattern set by most of the bottom half of the PL, spend all your money on journeymen, get relegated and skint.

if they were the only signings we made then yes I'd agree with you - but what''s been obvious from the opening 9/10 games is that the dynamic needs to change. We need to start to build a sustainable squad for the future, progressive younger players who are still on an upward career trajectory. I'd be moving some out at the same time and bring in a CM, maybe an LB and a striker/No. 10 who were first team ready.

I'm just suggesting potential recruits who could lower the age of the squad, develop, and be part of the longer term plan - which is how I hope we are thinking - regardless of which individuals we ultimately sign. It's not a definitive list, it's probably nowhere near accurate but given our advantageous financial position, together with our other many attributes, in addition to short term survival/stability we need to show more signs of a longer term commitment to the PL at the moment we still have the air of overwhelmed guests at the party.

Loftus-Cheek isn't going anywhere after tonight's performance. Full time cup duty.
