Vokes to sign new deal?
Re: Vokes to sign new deal?
Pleased for Sam well deserved. I do feel a bit for Chris wood though, fair enough he has looked off it so far but get the balls in the box with quality to him and he will score goals. Can’t think of many who want the ball ballooned into them at throat or head height 30 yards from goal with no support.
Re: Vokes to sign new deal?
Suppose it makes sense if we are to continue playing the style we currently are.
Makes you wonder what area of the pitch are we going to improve on anytime soon. ( with first team players, that improve the team )
About this time next year for the people in charge to maybe realise their mistake is my guess, hopefully not before.

Re: Vokes to sign new deal?
fantastic news
Play him regular and he always delivers.
Plus a safeguard of his sale value
Win,Win

That needs to be highlighted for a number of supporters who seem to have lost sight of what we are actually achieving at this level.claretspice wrote:But the minute Burnley fans as a whole stop appreciating the likes of Vokes- players with a brilliant attitude, just enough ability to make it at the top flight and a desire to make every last drop of ability count, and whose stats go under the radar of bigger clubs- thats probably the minute we're finished as a top flight club.

Fully deserved if true. Strangely, I feel Sam's always an insurance defensively from opponents set plays and corners. As for Wood, it wouldn't surprise me to see him return to his former club come the January window.

I can't see us getting rid of Wood unless we were to recoup our full outlay. Plus, it may only leave us with three strikers.ashtonlongsider wrote:Fully deserved if true. Sam signs up for three more years to close in on decade with Clarets!
from official website:

Progression got us 7th and Europe doubt we will match that for a while if ever.RocketLawnChair wrote:Sorry but I can’t contain my indifference about this. If Sam Vokes is going to be one of our main 3 or 4 strikers for the next 3 seasons then we are heading in one direction.
Great servant good honest pro but where is the progression?

Come on tim, after last season we are now an established top 7 side and should have been making signings to crack the top 4

Re: Vokes to sign new deal?
Progression can mean a lot of things Tim. Our style of play certainly needs to progress. Personally I’d take finishing mid table with no Europe and seeing something a bit more pleasing on the eye than what’s on offer at the moment. Sam was very much a bit part player last year despite our achievements. He was a striker who was brought on to defend corners and free kicks!tim_noone wrote:Progression got us 7th and Europe doubt we will match that for a while if ever.
Anyhow better news on Defour and Brady so I may get my wish and see something a bit more progressive in our style.
