Pleased for Sam well deserved. I do feel a bit for Chris wood though, fair enough he has looked off it so far but get the balls in the box with quality to him and he will score goals. Can’t think of many who want the ball ballooned into them at throat or head height 30 yards from goal with no support.

But the minute Burnley fans as a whole stop appreciating the likes of Vokes- players with a brilliant attitude, just enough ability to make it at the top flight and a desire to make every last drop of ability count, and whose stats go under the radar of bigger clubs- thats probably the minute we're finished as a top flight club.

I can't see us getting rid of Wood unless we were to recoup our full outlay. Plus, it may only leave us with three strikers.

Sorry but I can’t contain my indifference about this. If Sam Vokes is going to be one of our main 3 or 4 strikers for the next 3 seasons then we are heading in one direction.

Progression can mean a lot of things Tim. Our style of play certainly needs to progress. Personally I’d take finishing mid table with no Europe and seeing something a bit more pleasing on the eye than what’s on offer at the moment. Sam was very much a bit part player last year despite our achievements. He was a striker who was brought on to defend corners and free kicks!

Anyhow better news on Defour and Brady so I may get my wish and see something a bit more progressive in our style.
