Jimmy Dunne
Seems to be doing really well at Hearts. Just searched his name on Twitter and the Hearts fans love him. So many positive comments.

Re: Jimmy Dunne
There's already a thread on here about him and his excellent start to life in the SPL. Yes, the standards up there may be a little questionable, but he's a young lad learning his trade and getting brilliant experience and really shining. He looks like one of a number of our young lads right now who might just have a real chance of making it.

One of many positives for our youth set up and club in general even if some would have you believe we are in complete disarray.

Re: Jimmy Dunne
Didn't we pick him up after getting released from United like McNeil?
Stan Ternent was right all them years back. Save your money from trying to produce your own and pick up the better cast offs from the bigger clubs and plough all the finances into a finishing school for these lads.

Isn't this the same thing that Brentford currently do as well?Quickenthetempo wrote:Didn't we pick him up after getting released from United like McNeil?

I'm not sure but they have a policy of recruiting everybody through a stats system that seems to work.Goobs wrote:Isn't this the same thing that Brentford currently do as well?

Aye taken from the moneyball thing I believe. Pretty sure I heard something on the radio a year or so ago saying they had scrapped their youth / reserves and had a development squad that played regular behind closed doors games or something like that.Quickenthetempo wrote:I'm not sure but they have a policy of recruiting everybody through a stats system that seems to work.
Re: Jimmy Dunne
Are you a Man Utd fan? As the best couple of prospects we currently have are from their academy, Dunne didn't come to Burnley until quite late 17 or 18 I think.Goobs wrote:One of many positives for our youth set up and club in general even if some would have you believe we are in complete disarray.

Re: Jimmy Dunne
That doesn't matter. The fact is that we have identified a young player, brought them in and they appear to be progressing well at the moment.MACCA wrote:Are you a Man Utd fan? I like JBG, doesn't make me a Charlton fan cos I think he is a good signing and a good player for us

As for JBG, I'd go as far as saying he's the stand out academy graduate, and the one the likes of Wood, Gibson and Taylor need to replicate regards to his success.

The lad is playing for the SPL leaders, can we honestly say that we are better than Hearts at present?

Re: Jimmy Dunne
Will do him good playing regularly.
Didn’t do the last youngster we sent up over the boarder any harm in his development

Noticed in todays papers Levein was saying he's not concerned about losing Berra and Souttar to injury as he has Jimmy and A.N.Other to come in.
I was surprised as I thought he had been starting all season.

I think several players have been exiled up north since jay spent his successful season there. None of which have gone on to any real success. Wasn't Alex McDonald one of them?mkmel wrote:Think he's on about Jay Rodriguez

Re: Jimmy Dunne
Jay was only there for three months and played ten games for Stirling. Alex Mac had two loans up there but it was at a time when he was struggling with the death of his mum. Alex has gone on to have a decent career in the lower divisions, although he's currently out having had surgery. He's now played over 300 games for his various clubs.bfcmik wrote:I think several players have been exiled up north since jay spent his successful season there. Not so sure about that CT. Aberdeen are mid table in that league and we didn't exactly dispose of them easily did we?ClaretTony wrote:By a country mile we can - but Jimmy Dunne is doing really well for them.

Not convinced thats fair. Given we struggled against Aberdeen who arent doing that well this year. And celtic are almost certainly better than usClaretTony wrote:By a country mile we can - but Jimmy Dunne is doing really well for them.

What makes you say Celtic are better than us? They're a decent team in the SPL but seem to struggle in Europe I'm not sure if they are better than us TBH.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Not convinced thats fair. Re: Jimmy Dunne
Aberdeen took us to extra time while we were still in pre-season and they'd started their league games. We are head and shoulders better than the best teams in Scotland.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Because celtic are streets ahead of aberdeen who took us to extra time.
Re: Jimmy Dunne
I agree i am a Scottish based Turf Moor ST holder who attends many Hearts and other Scottish games. Burnley would probably win the SPL, Aberdeen raised the bar against us, i have seen Jimmy Dunne in the flesh four times this season and he is class!

Have you not been watching us this season CT? Re: Jimmy Dunne
You really can't have a debate with some people - absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary comment. You don't agree with me fine, I'm not going to change my mind and I find that comment way out of order and pathetic.jrgbfc wrote:Have you not been watching us this season CT? Re: Jimmy Dunne
Celtic are miles better than us. Theyd finish top 8 regularly in this league with their current squad. we constantly over estimate the quality of our league.
The amount of trophies and length of unbeaten runs theyve been on shows how good celtic are.
Theyre far better than us.

Celtic are better than them too.
