Re: Tarky's new motor
Forget the motor, and yes he is good enough to spray the ball around.
What he needs to do is remember what got him in to the England squad.
Last week he was ball watching and let two midgets have free headers on goal, and today, well, I could have played against him at times.
Can we have the old Tarky back please?

Not quite sure this beats the “we shouldn’t sign Foden on loan because of that birthday cake someone bought for him”, but it’s not far off

Re: Tarky's new motor
I'm not sure his G-Wagon is any more ostentatious than the Mercedes AMG GT that Defour looked to drive away in, complete with matte paint finish, or Vokes' Range Rover - yes it's likely more expensive than both, but I think we're clutching at straws here now and just lashing out for the sake of it.
Get some kip.

Re: Tarky's new motor
Agreed! When players have so much disposable income, many of them will splash out on a fancy motor. Not sure those big Merc station wagon type things are flash but they do definitely stand out from mainstream motors.Bosscat wrote:Jesus what does the fact a player has bought (leased) a G-Wagon have on his ability... Mercedes do, or did at least, offer a VIP scheme for sports professionals with very attractive terms. Not that it matters one iota anyway. Good luck to him.

Simply a thread about the ever increasing disconnect between today's professional footballers and the supporters of their team, relevant only by our recent elevation to the so called top flight, and this seasons poor start.

Young man earning good money makes not too prudent purchase. Shocker.
In the pre zero hours contract days when dubble bubble o/t was an actual thing - I had a good week and spent it on a rather snazzy Marco Polo cardigan from a posh clobber shop that if memory serves me correctly was round about opposite Holland and Barrett

If I had the disposable income they have when I was their age (well the equivalent) I would have been exactly the same.
As long as they are advised right to invest well and prepare for when its all over, and don't pee it all up against the wall or chuck it away down the bookies...

Precisely. The world is unfortunately awash with envy and hatred towards those people who are successful in whatever walk of life they pursue and woe betide anyone who may wish to spend their money on a luxury item. Especially if they are young and in the public spotlight.Garnerssoap wrote:Young man earning good money makes not too prudent purchase. Shocker.

Any brief encounter with Twitter will provide countless examples of such hatred and envy and therefore the bile this generates and unfortunately, this is a milder form of that at work here.

But you don’t say that, you use it as an excuse to suggest he’s getting ‘too big for his boots’ and then in the next breath sledge his performance and ability.Steve1956 wrote:I don't envy Tarky's car I think it's just **** that's all.
One can easily misinterpret another’s intended message on an Internet forum but I’m sure I’m not the only one that senses envy in that opening post.

Believe me mate I don't envy him driving in around something that favours an armoured car,his head has been turned I think, and his performances have dropped off hence we are taking some hammerings when last season our defence was rock solid this season it's hopeless...it's not envy mate it's a fact

I thought our newly porous defence might be down to missing elements that marney and Barton brought to the side but am relieved to know it’s tarkys new motor causing the issues

Very much doubt they are buying these cars. If they have any sense at all they will be leasing. Don't get the comments about Tarky, he has been very good this season in my view (also second in player of the season ratings). Was not great against Chelsea but was superb against City. Made countless goal saving tackles and blocks.

Re: Tarky's new motor
Loved Roy Marlour range of jumpers. Reminds me of Austin Reed and Wardrobe, and several other good local shops we had before a lot of football fans became clones.
But seriously, on topic - this post epitomises what I perceive as wrong with the modern game. A jumper from Gibson Sports used to cost me a weeks wages.
I understand the point about spending your own disposable income how you want (particularly when you’re young).......but when does that hunger and desire to progress leave you once you’re financially set for life, like most of our squad?
After your next Bentley and Hale mansion, is it really worth the extra effort?
I think some footballers may choose to believe they’ve ‘made it’. That’s Champoinship players too, but some of our so called premiership elite are the worst examples.
There’s some loyal sensible grounded footballers around, and I’d hate to tar them all with the same brush.
But. Maybe that’s why we struggle with a national side. Why strive to play for your country when you could be at home comfortably deep into some gold digging plastic WAG in your maid serviced mansion?
I really like to believe our squad are above this, and despite the wealthy possessions are humble and grounded. They appear to be. UTC!!

Sad day when it went but I think it may have been connected to the fact that a lot of stock that left the store was never actually paid for.
Re: Tarky's new motor
When I was a young man we had a Roy Marlor's in Skipton. I remember buying a black polo neck sweater and a pair of burgundy flairs from them, it took me weeks to save up for them. If your mates found out you'd shopped their you were the dogs ----ocks.
