Dishonesty....cheating
Dishonesty....cheating
Motd.
Palace. 2 penalties both wrong decisions. First was just a slip by the palace player, onto the Arsenal defender. 2nd was literally As he jumping on and off Xhaka's leg.
Arsenal...Lacazette just hand balled.
That's just the first match.
What makes it worse is the pundits saying it is expected to jump into a leg and get a pen.

Re: Dishonesty....cheating
Posted this in another thread but more relevant here:
Economists will tell you everything in life comes down to incentives
When it comes to the players behavior they are only doing what the game has increasingly incentivised them to do. The emphasis on getting a result at all costs with mulit-millions of pounds in the mix and importantly the rules having enough grey areas in them to allow the constant pushing the envelope.
We only see a yellow card for the most clear and obvious dives, hardly a deterrent. The risk/reward factor is totally skewed toward the benefits of diving and dishonesty. Even if a few are caught many more will not, risk a yellow for a potential 3 points? Yes please.
Even a two game ban, which has only been applied twice I believe is not being used enough to make it a deterrent.
It's the same reason why some investment bankers do crooked deals, because the likelihood of anything coming of it is very low but the reward is potentially huge.

Yeah, I think we’re honest and not dirty enough if we want to stay at the top table - and it pains me to say it.

Anyone who dives, like Willian or the prolific diver Saha, should be dragged in front of the TV cameras and asked why they dived. They can then be banned for 3 games.

VAR - used properly !
Re: Dishonesty....cheating
Our match next....
Morata and Willian
Why oh why do they disgrace themselves in such a way?
**** on a football field. If that is their moral compass, check your wallet in the changing room.

Re: Dishonesty....cheating
Dyche's complaints have fallen on deaf ears, we should go out next week and just roll around and cheat - he can come out after the game and say "how'dya all like that"

Re: Dishonesty....cheating
Sam Vokes stayed on his feet in the area with David Luis dragging at him.Saha would have been down liked he'd been snipered.
Yes we are not a bunch of cheating toe rags and what we really need is for refs to stand up to cheats.
The antics of Chelseas keeper after attempting to tackle Barnes was totally ott .As was several "injured"Chelsea players.
For the record Woy says Saha is targeted and is an honest player. With this attitude of one of our most experienced managers nothing will change

Why are you insulting a person with a speech impediment. ?Woodleyclaret wrote:Sam Vokes stayed on his feet in the area with David Luis dragging at him.Saha would have been down liked he'd been snipered.

Re: Dishonesty....cheating
Surprisingly Xhaka said that it was a penalty that he gave away.
Re: Dishonesty....cheating
Erm, I watched MOTD2 this morning and couldn't find any issue with any of the penalties that I saw given. Does that mean I'd expect Burnley to get those decisions??? No, no it doesn't.

A trip does not have to be deliberate. Deliberate only applies to handball.

Re: Dishonesty....cheating
when depoitre(against us) and the fulham lad(against Bournemouth) dived, both pundits said it was disgusting behaviour, bet they didn't say that about Willian.
Re: Dishonesty....cheating
But it does have to be a trip. If a player wouldn't fall over in normal circumstances but chooses to throw himself down, it isn't a trip. (Except under the rules of football as commonly applied. How many free kicks did Chelsea get for throwing themselves on the floor yesterday?)Darnhill Claret wrote:A trip does not have to be deliberate. Deliberate only applies to handball.

Re: Dishonesty....cheating
Yes...because he has caught this stupid mindset, which says I left my body part within striking distance, so it is my fault that he was able to jump into it and fall over, thus claimimg a legitimate penalty, as there was contact.aggi wrote:Surprisingly Xhaka said that it was a penalty that he gave away.
It is not football!
