The Times: Dyche unhappy - dressing room disharmony
Report in The Times today:
Matt Hughes, Football Notebook
Sean Dyche hunts for Burnley mole after media leaks
Signs of disharmony in the dressing room at Burnley have been revealed by a recent team meeting called by Sean Dyche, when the manager demanded to know if one of his players has been leaking stories to the media.
The Burnley manager is unhappy that a number of stories about his own wages and decisions to drop senior players have been published recently and demanded to know who was responsible. A meeting was called but it broke up without resolution, with all the players insisting they were in the dark.
Dyche retains the backing of Burnley’s players despite a poor start to the season, but his recent omission of the long-serving Ashley Barnes and preference for Joe Hart over the fit-again Tom Heaton has upset some within a tight-knit group.

Maybe there is something that needs sorting - and not just team results.
Teams can only ever be successful with "togetherness."
Let's get a result at the London Stadium today.

That is a worry and my concern from the outset was the effect if any of Joe coming in. Of course none of us can know if any of this is true-but if the dressing room is lost then it spells only one thing for us. It is hard to follow why after 6 years our pretty watertight defence now leaks. What has changed? Only the keeper and recently the left back.
Whether Tom is the keeper he was- we cannot know until he is played.

Re: The Times: Dyche unhappy - dressing room disharmony
The most concerning thing there isn't the substance of the story- because there isn't much to it. Players get reminded of their responsibilities to maintain confidentiality all the time (probably at Burnley, after the Stephen Ward WhatsApp thing). And players will always have their private views on selection, influenced by who their closest mates are.
If anything is concerning, it's the fact that even after that meeting, this story has appeared. At best (and actually most likely) it suggests someone isn't being careful enough. But in any event the journo will have made the most of his source content - and given the story is pretty mundane after he's done his worst, the source clearly wasn't exactly giving away crown jewels.

These spells are inevitable in every single work place.
If this has any weight to it....fair play that he is dealing with it. I think a lot of managers just ignore it and hope it will go away.

Which scoundrel has gone to the press and told them that Ashley Barnes and Tom Heaton haven't been in the team?
And where have these leaks been published? I would have thought there would have been links to them in here.

Re: The Times: Dyche unhappy - dressing room disharmony
It all smells a bit fishy.
If we get relegated this season you can count on one hand the number of players who would stay in the Prem with another club. Most would be better off sticking with us in the Championship. Their best option is to fight tooth and nail for Burnley to stay up.
I can understand any player being unhappy at not starting, but the only one in the squad who had a RIGHT to be unhappy is Hendrick. Everyone else who isn't starting, it's because they aren't showing enough on the pitch when they do get on. You can't judge a player on one game, but the one chance Tom had to show he was back, at Burton, he blew. Wood has looked a long way off his best when he comes on. Ash looked ok last Sunday, but over the season hasn't looked as good as last season. Cork and Mee are shadows of their former selves, but the lack of competition for places means neither has been pushed.
If there are any players out there unhappy, they need to take a good hard look in the mirror and not bitch about it.

Well whatever was said at this meeting, it’s clearly not had the desired effect given that the meeting itself has ended up being ‘leaked’!!
Never thought you’d see stories like this under Dyche, the football was questionable at best but I always thought the spirit was excellent.

Lots of people were suggesting it doesn't look a happy camp, yet they were shouted down as being idiots on here. People aren't stupid, they know what they're seeing with their own eyes and there's clearly a problem somewhere.

Re: The Times: Dyche unhappy - dressing room disharmony
It’s amazing how much credence is given to a tiny minority on forums and social media. I keep reading posts and tweets bemoaning the fact that people want Dyche out. Another thread refers to it as a “chorus”.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Well that's the bellends on here happy, they're desperate to say that Dyche has lost the dressing room and needs to go
I can count on one hand the number of individuals who actually say they want him out though. Granted some of those have probably repeated it many times, but the numbers who want rid of him are very small. I certainly don’t know anyone who wants him out and there’s been no rumblings around where I sit on the Turf.
Far too much is being made of this.

Re: The Times: Dyche unhappy - dressing room disharmony
Seen as Heaton himself did the interview where he expressed dissatisfaction about life at Burnley, and he how he had assumed he would be in the team at Southampton regardless of signing Hart - you would have to think that Heaton is prime candidate for this.
If it’s Barnes then I am amazed how he could think he deserves to be in the team. I’m a huge Barnes fan but he has been absolute **** this season, doesn’t even look bothered and win the free kicks by diving everywhere that I expect of him as a minimum.

Re: The Times: Dyche unhappy - dressing room disharmony
What right does Heaton have to expect to be played when he knows that if you've been out injured, you have to wait for your opportunity to get the shirt back?
Club captain doesn't equate to automatic selection and if he's causing a rift amongst the squad because of this, he needs to go in January.
Pope is the best out of the three without doubt in my opinion, there's not much between Hart and Heaton. Hart is willing to embrace the team ethic and work for his place, Heaton it is being reported is not.
Heaton up to his injury has been fantastic for us and with little competition, his place in the team was pretty much nailed on. With Pope having done so well while he's been out, I'm sure he did know he'd have work to do to get his place back in the starting line up. However, once Pope got injured, he may have thought his return to the nets was inevitable.
In comes Hart and that's blown that inevitability out of the window. Is it a case that the comfort zone Heatons been in for the past 5 years being removed has rattled him?

Re: The Times: Dyche unhappy - dressing room disharmony
It's clearly down to Dyche that much doesn't get out on social media or to the press. Even Joey Barton who is a huge Twiitter user kept tight lipped about the team and club whilst here. The Heaton article not long ago is the first relatively negative article in ages.

After the season Pope had I can't see why Heaton should have expected to go straight back into the team anyway, regardless of whether Hart came or not.
Had Pope remained fit he was comfortably the better keeper.

I understood that comment, as that he thought after Pope was injured he’d be back in the team, but we then signed Hart

His comments, blown out of all proportion in any case, were based on Pope having already been injured. Hart only played in Istanbul because Tom wasn’t on the squad list. Don’t think there was anything too concerning in what Tom said.Spijed wrote:After the season Pope had I can't see why Heaton should have expected to go straight back into the team anyway, regardless of whether Hart came or not.

Worst thing with this type of article is it gives those inclined to go on message boards and social media and use it as a stick to beat the club with.

I've read the article and it doesn't have any concrete evidence that it is even true. I could write the exact article, change the team name and a couple of player names and that would appear to put that particular team in crisis. I honestly don't think there's is anything in this at all.

If the story about Sean's wages is from late 2017, then I would assume that the matter was resolved to his satisfaction when he signed a four-year contract in January this year.

I can't believe this 'meeting' is true.
If it is true, it all sounds a bit desperate to be honest, having a meeting to ask who's being telling tales? really?
It all sounds like a mourinho-esque approach of shifting the focus away from results and shifting the blame.

I think saying, “nothing to see here”, is more wishful thinking than anything else.SalisburyClaret wrote:Move along - nothing to see here
Stories such as this haven’t come out before. The foundations of the last six years have been built on togetherness and unity. Hopefully it’s a storm in a teacup but when there are comments about disharmony, it’s concerning and it’s this sort of issue that will be the true measure of Dyche’s man management skills.
The team news has been leaked for ages now and it may seem minor but if this is the tip of the iceberg, I can see why Dyche will be getting frustrated.
Hopefully Heaton is nothing to do with it, and hopefully as captain he’s looking to get to the bottom of this, from inside the squad.

Heaton’s article about him wanting game time and may have to look elsewhere was an article that had been officially approved by BFC before going out.
There have been mention of Heaton and SD falling out over Heaton not getting 2 games at the end of last season to prove his fitness for thr Eirld Cup but alledgedly SD went back on that promise.
