Garbage
13 goals conceded in 3 games
Not even close to being good enough this season, nowhere near

Going down without a wimper if we carry on like this.
Re: Garbage
It's West Ham FFS, you can't expect to compete with teams like this when they've spent million of pounds on players.
The ref was poor.
We were good in patches
We aren't a million miles away
We will be fine when Brady and Defour get back playing
We need to start Vydra
Points will come in the next few weeks
We will get back to basics

But most teams have spent millions more than us, is that the argument after every drubbing ?
Why we didn't spend millions to have a fighting chance to stay in this league, well only Dyche and Garlick can answer that.
If you standstill in this league there's only one way you are going.

Our football is disgusting, our defending is even worse, and our famous team spirit is being called into question.
It’s okay though, in Dyche we trust.

We actually played pretty well second half today and at 2 2 I was hopeful. Our inability to defend though is just rage inducing. Depressed in grim East London.

Re: Garbage
Our awful recruitment and lack of spending in the summer is the root of our problems. The players were out there, look at Brooks and Barclay. We have nobody remotely of that class. And if you say we could not afford them, I will say we could not afford NOT to get them ( unless of course the board fancied another spell in the Championship). What a shambles

Needs investment......like any business. And we haven’t, not enough to at least keep pace........and that’s not Dyche.
He’s trying to do a job in a highly competitive industry, where the shareholders and Board invest in “make do” players.
Ultimately ready for the Championship in my view...........but how I hope it just about keeps us in the Prem, but at this rate can’t see it.

The problem is we’re not identifying good players enough, something which this new technical guy has to hit the ground running with, let’s hope he gets someone in to make a difference in Jan. we were very foolish to haggle West Brom, we could have had Jay Rod and I think he would have made a big difference up front as our forwards are offering nothing at the moment.

Re: Garbage
We've flittered from it being Hart's fault and a need to change to Heaton; to not closing down enough; to a very poor passing %; to it being the defence's fault... maybe we're just not good enough? And last year was us all performing at close to 100%, and things falling for us?
That's certainly how it looks to me. In which case, our only saviour will be bringing in 2-3+ players in January. If that's on loan - sobeit! If that doesn't happen, I really don't see how we could improve to such a significant amount that we will stay up.

Re: Garbage
I don't think it's all down to the board, If I recall, MG said there was a healthy fund available, I think SD and his "nit pick" approach to ensure players fit the framework and reluctance to look abroad which could be a major contributing factor.

Personally, I expect the season to follow this pattern every year we are in the Premier League. That's not undue pessimism, it's just a rational understanding of our resources and status in comparison to other Premier League clubs. In that respect, we are on the same level as Cardiff and Huddersfield, but no other team really. There's no need to demand excuses from the manager when a team with lesser players loses to a team with better players.
Someone suggested we should have signed Brooks or Barclay (presumably Ross Barclay) but there is no way at all players of that calibre would come to Burnley. It would never be seen as a positive career move.

It needs sorting by whoever needs to sort it, no matter the level/relationship might come under pressure. There is something not right and someone within the club knows what it is. It's up to them to do their most professional job for Burnley Football Club. That is their job

Re: Garbage
Buying players will certainly be a tough for us, for several reasons. We're likely to go down, and players who could come to us know damn well that's more than realistic. If we add wage cut relegation clauses, they'll run a mile. So realistically, the only players we're going to sign in January are Championship players (who are playing for a club unlikely to come up), or players who aren't getting a sniff at their current club in the Premier League.Erasmus wrote:Someone suggested we should have signed Brooks or Barclay (presumably Ross Barclay) but there is no way at all players of that calibre would come to Burnley. Or, of course, a six month loan. But 2-3 six month loans could be the difference between us going down and staying up and be well worth the investment. But as I've said, I don't see how this squad will keep us up with the way we're playing. To go from this to playing well and picking up points, would be a massive turnaround. One I just can't see happening.

Re: Garbage
Exactly this. When Dyche is so limited in the sort of players he's willing to sign it kind of limits our options. I'm sure the funds were there over the summer, yet the sum of Dyche's ambition was to chase after a journeyman midfielder like Sam Clucas.Barry_Chuckle wrote:I don't think it's all down to the board, If I recall, MG said there was a healthy fund available, I think SD and his "nit pick" approach to ensure players fit the framework and reluctance to look abroad which could be a major contributing factor.

Re: Garbage
Dyche is not to blame today , started with a positive team , changed the strikers early and Brady had plenty of time too , I know it's happy clappy stuff but we have to get behind the team at home it's where our points are going to come from, we all know it's not quite clicking so does the manager and the players ,so negative fans on match day will only make matters worse ,

Agree with the above time the players stood up and toon responsibility nothing Dyche can do about a defender who can’t make a simple pass to his keeper or do basic defending today.

Brady had 15 mins. Hardly plenty of time. The substitutions were too late yet again and reacting to going 2-1 down rather than making them earlier and taking the initiative in the game. Not good enough.

"Started with a positive team"? I do not know how Lennon and Westwood get anywhere near the first team, and poor old Sam Vokes, he would make an average championship striker look good. Added to that, Tarks and Lowton are awful at the moment. I fear for the worst

Excellent second half of the season to look forward to.
Re: Garbage
Who’s call was it to buy Vydra , bang average at best
Re: Garbage
We should have signed Dawson, he would have brought some proper agression to the team, especially from set plays. Tarky's a good player but at set plays he lacks an aggressive streak, with Dawson he would take every man and his dog when attacking the ball. Gibson was second choice and he's not a patch on Dawson. Get the back four tight and compact and you have a chance. Absolutely awful recruitment, unfortunately it'll be too late come January.

That goal came via 2 deflections, no chance of saving it. I love Tom Heaton for everything he's done for us (we've also done a lot for him too) but if he is undermining team spirit he needs to be sold in January.
