Japonese peoples

Post by gtclaret » Mon Nov 05, 2018 7:48 pm

It's 4.39am I am lying awake in my hotel room, it's my 5th day of a 2 week break. The politeness of the people, is simply breath taking. Earlier today I went to a fast food burger restaurant, they give the drinks and bring the food to the table. The girl elegantly hand over the food as she arrived at the table, stands back and Bowes. The japonese customers clean up after themselves, everywhere is so clean and tidy. Can you image that in Burger King or Weatherspoons.

They may be polite, but when it comes to animal cruelty they are simply barbaric. Whaling is disgusting!

I am simply talking about the politeness of the people that I am experiencing whilst on Holiday. I am not making a political statement. They are not my bum buddies, but its a little shocking when compared to the behaviour of some of the people at home.

Yes, I've never understood why the Japanese got a fairly free ride in comparison to the German's when it came to war time atrocities.

I suppose it was purely down to the numbers, but in terms of barbarism they were actually far worse.

I totally agree. Perhaps the powers that be thought they had enough problems sorting out their unwanted nuclear legacy to bother with a war crimes trial. Also, it would appear a lot of the perpetrators had already been killed.

The British weren`t particularly polite to...where should we go? Go on then, the Indians during colonialisation, now were they? I don`t think the Japanese need a history lesson (well, apart from lots of the kids) from the British. The Japanese did some utterly abhorent things over many years but stones/glass houses.

What an incredibly bizarre tangent to go off on. A tourist was commenting on how polite his hosts are being. That`s it. Why does everything have to be twisted to fit an agenda. Geez!

Personally feel (vegetarian for 22 years) the whole world has very little regard for animals and sees them merely as play things, comfort items or simply food (which all animals are of course!) to be killed with impunity regardless of the pain & suffering caused.

Utter nonsense.

The British Empire is taught in schools and is treated properly - as a complex issue with many faults.

The Japanese do NOT teach their own about their wartime atrocities.

It was as a result of their belief that it is honourable to sacrifice your life in battle and dishonourable to surrender; their forebears would rather commit Hari Kiri than surrender. Having surrended, POWs were basically the lowest of the low and deserved everything that came to them and more. Consequently, it wasn’t an aberration of an ultra- nationalist right wing government, it was a cultural belief that went back thousands of years.

Japanese porn? What about the Japanese war crimes against practically the whole of Asia? After the war, they should have been deprived of all their metal and been made to go back to origami, paper, wood and Raku pottery. Zen????? What has a Zen master ever done with his time? Obtained powers of concentration to? The Japs ,they've politely been at war with us for 60 years. Now they want to destroy everyone with A.I. They probably have 'commercial' satellites coming over the UK right now and dousing us with infra red rays to make us all ill.

The Nissan Duke is the most stupid car ever made. There isn't even any legroom in the back and no windows hardly to look out of. The door handle is near the roof and out of reach of a child. A child could not see out of the back seat area, the windows are too high and the rear of the car is the ugliest in car history more or less. it's jowls and muscled up pretension are the follies of the age. If that is their nation materialized they are tragic.

More to do with being seen as "liberators" for the people of SE Asia.

The way to do that was to demean, dehumanise and destroy the myth of European invincibility, which the Japanese most definitely did.

Then the points made further up are also relevant, the Japanese needed workers and saw no point in having unproductive POWs and internees in camps when they could be doing work for the Empire.

We all know about the Burma railway, but equally as bad camps in places like Borneo and Java as well.

EDIT - but this was 70 plus years ago, and is not as simple as "the japanese were animals". To understand the Japanese actions, you also have to accept the European colonial attitudes as well. I recommend any reading of the British Military preparations in Malaya and Singapore prior to 1941, because there was a surprising amount of good (ignored because of what happened) but an awful lot of bad, and a lot of that because of pure, simple racism (complete inability to understand that the Japanese were better than the Europeans gave them credit for.

... But not European good sense and sensibility which they definitely didn't. Add to that their destruction, so actually it was their own notion of invincibility that went down the pan.

A Nissan Duke is a very silly small car with 'urban' pretensions, made in Sunderland on licence.

Bombs away!

It’s always good when someone with a at least modicum of Historic Study comments upon Historic Events. There’s so much bluff and bluster otherwise.

The British weren`t particularly polite to...where should we go? Go on then, the Indians during colonialisation, now were they? I don`t think the Japanese need a history lesson (well, apart from lots of the kids) from the British. The Japanese did some utterly abhorent things over many years but stones/glass houses.

I am more than aware of the lack of education here. Excuses their ignorance (to an extent).
