Harrogate town
Seen that they are flying in The Conference / National league and only a few points off top and well into the play offs.
Perhaps Forest Green and Accy Stanley are a bigger success, but few would have eclipsed Harrogate Town getting into the football league if they do. To think they are potentially going to be promoted to a league we played in, in living memory!

Re: Harrogate town
Another with a millionaire chairman rising quickly through the ranks. I went up there last year for an FA Cup game against my local non league side. They've still got a 3G pitch, so I think that'll have to go if they want to get into the Football League.
Re: Harrogate town
Having driven past their ground a few times I wonder if they have the correct capacity to enter the FL. What are the minimum standards these days to enter Div 2?

Re: Harrogate town
It’s 4,000 capacity. Accy’s is Just over 5,000. They are required to have a minimum number of seats.

Absloutely brilliant but I'm keeping an eye on FC Fylde. They are going well and if promoted it would mean 3 league clubs in the Blackpool area where they have always struggled to keep one going, how weird would that be?cricketfieldclarets wrote:Seen that they are flying in The Conference / National league and only a few points off top and well into the play offs.

Re: Harrogate town
The balance does appear to be finally coming back North and thank goodness for it.
Top of the Conference is all Northern but for Orient. Bottom is all Southern but for Chesterfield, who appear to be improving under Martin Allen.

Re: Harrogate town
Harrogate, capacity wise, are ok to go into the league. They just reach the entry requirement which is a capacity of 4,000 of which 500 must be seats.
However, by end of first year the requirement becomes 5,000 (1,000) and by third year 5,000 (2,000).

Agree with this bar the bit about Chesterfield!piston broke wrote:The balance does appear to be finally coming back North and thank goodness for it.

Their fans hate Allen, check his record out - they haven’t won since August in the league. Conceded a 97th minute equaliser at the weekend and now I think 15 games without a win or something, also just outside relegation zone on goal difference. Crazy what’s happening there.

Re: Harrogate town
Went on Saturday, stood behind the dugouts. The main entertainment was Martin Allen, and his liberal use of the f word.
Two trainers squared up to each other, a Chesterfield player, pushed Simon Weaver the town manager, who pushed him back, both got a yellow for their troubles.
Zavron Hines, remember him ?, played up front for Chesterfield, headless and chicken are words which spring to mind. Dominic Knowles is injured at the moment, but was instrumental in helping them get promotion, last year. There’s not enough seats but a plan is in place to increase them if they go up and one thing which will have to be replaced, is the G3 pitch, not allowed I understand in the FL.
And I only paid 12 quid, the day was spoilt of course, by our result at Westam.

Didn’t know that. I watched their game at Halifax on BT and thought they were fine and saw they were beating Harrogate until added time which to me meant they were improving.jedi_master wrote:Agree with this bar the bit about Chesterfield!
