I sometimes wonder.
Re: What country do you live in?
Reading this I’m reminded of this, ‘ There’s a country, you don’t live there, but one day you would like to’.

califclaret. You're in California. Isn't that a country unto itself? Your GNP is bigger than the entirety of Canada's.

and Spades, I'd suggest the four countries are, in fact, nations, and the ONE country (state) is the UK of GB&NI. Indeed Wales is a Principality, not a country

Re: What country do you live in?
Suggest away NRC. I googled the following -
"Yes, Wales is country and not a Principality. Although Wales shares a border with England and is part of Great Britain, Wales is a country in its own right.
Wales was officially recognised as a country in December 2011 by the influential International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) - but it hasn’t really been a Principality for hundreds of years.
Despite the relatively recent recognition of Wales as a country, even though it has its own National Assembly, anthem, language and our own rugby and football teams, it hasn’t been a Principality since the 16th century."
and -
"England is technically a country of the UK.
England is one of the four nations that form the United Kingdom. It borders the countries Scotland and Wales to the North and West respectively. The separation between England and Continental Europe is made possible by the North Sea to the eastern side and The English Channel on the southern side. England is made up of more than 100 small islands."

USA, just outside of Cincinnati. Been here just over 14 years and will most likely die here. Born and raised in Belfast with a 13 year stint living in the Rosegrove area, where i found my love of the Clarets back in the mid 80's.

We'll see, long term.
Plan is to explore the neighbouring countries for a permanent resting spot.

Re: What country do you live in?
Spent some time in Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Greece, but always find myself coming home to England.
That's usually because the Thomas Cook rep is shouting that the airport transport has arrived and we are going to miss the plane.

One where a 98 year old war veteran is beaten and attacked and left for dead in his own home. By subhuman animals.
I know it's unfashionable and terribly unPC but....

Re: What country do you live in?
I'm shocked, Spades, you citing "Google" as an authority. Doesn't the original Statute of Rhuddlan, dating from 1284, unite England and Wales as a single Kingdom, and then the 1536 and 1707 Acts of Union formally and literally "unite" the various countries into a single union/country? So what were countries once in history, became a single country, and therefore the Union is no longer made up of countries, but is a country unto itself?spadesclaret wrote:Suggest away NRC. Re: What country do you live in?
There are many different definitions of a country. England and Wales are both countries under some of them but not all.

I'll be working, I'm only 28, I'm a digital nomad so can work from anywhere, just need my laptop. I've secured a work permit through a company called Iglu who offer workspace and a visa in return for 30% of your income, that includes tax also. (Expensive but the only way to do my work legally).ClaretDiver wrote:Nice 1 I love BKK, you going for work or retiring there? Do you know where in BKK you are going to be based? My Mrs has a 2 and a half year contract to work in Bangkok initially.
We'll be residing in Sammakon Village, it's quite out of the centre.

Calm, Ringo. Vigilantes are coming. When the Tories have run the police down to 15 women with whistles the people will defend themselves..RingoMcCartney wrote:One where a 98 year old war veteran is beaten and attacked and left for dead in his own home. By subhuman animals.
