Just watch this film.

Peter Jackson got paid nothing to do this - he made this as he felt he had to do so.
Peter Jackson happens to be one of the highest rated film makers of our time.

Many of his films are not my thing but this one was personal for him and he really pulled out the strings to make it happen.

Please watch it.
Google it if you are in doubt.
Everyone should see this,

I watched and my recorder failed  as I would watch again.
That said it will be on iplayer - Hopefully indefinitely.

My family links to these times and relatives were lost.

The colour of death is hard to watch.

....and all we have to do in return, is wear a poppy and remember them.

Watched it last night. Stunning film which I simply couldn't take my eyes off. The fact that the story is told in the soldiers' own words adds poignancy to the film. I also noticed in the credits that one of the soldiers was from the East Lancashire Regiment and another was from the Queen's Lancashire Regiment.

This was film-making at its absolute finest.

Hard to say I enjoyed it, as it was quite horrific in places, but a brilliant piece of history.
If anyone hasn't watched it, I'd recommend it. The colour and the sound over for voices makes it so much more real than those silent stills that somehow remove you from the real thing.

I saw the start of it but couldn't stay awake for the whole thing. Will try and see the rest on iPlayer this week sometime. Thing that struck me was how young some of them looked. I knew about lads lying about their age in order to sign up but some of them barely looked older than 14/15, just kids basically.

A quite stunning programme ...

I heard that Peter Jackson's team spent 12 months just developing the software to clean up scratches on the footage and eliminate the jerkiness of movement that is so prevalent when you normally watch them ...

Thanks for highlighting this. It’s incredible! So powerful!

I was surprised at the reaction of the people at home when the soldiers returned. I’d have thought that they’d have returned to the heroes welcome that they deserved.
