10 Years Ago Today

Post by Rouwens_Weapon » Mon Nov 12, 2018 8:49 am

Since Ade Akinbiyi scored at Stamford Bridge in front of 6500 vociferous Clarets. What a night it was! Don't know where the time has gone..

What a great night that was, so glad I went. I pretty much consider that night as the start of the amazing journey we went on that season and all it has led to since. What a ten years!!

Wow - 10 years, that's barely believable.

That moment when Cudicini parried Chris Eagles shot and the ball fell invitingly into Ade's path and you knew he was going to score. One of those rare occasions in open play where you're ready to celebrate the split second before the ball hits the net.

You could just feel the confidence spread through the team and into the stands from then on. The fact that we still looked entirely comfortable with 10 men once Caldwell was sent off.

Definitely up there amongst the best of times.

We went to the game with little hope and zero expectation.

Ten years on we go into games with little hope and zero expectation.

Speak for yourself. I always fancied us to get a result at Chelsea. one of the most exciting Burnley games I've ever been to!

10 years, wow.

I didn't go, but I remember the build up, being asked why Burnley were taking 6,500 fans - there was just a weird feeling it was going to be something special. I, like many other Clarets became this guy:

I can't remember why I decided to go, but I'm bloody glad I did.

Perhaps my favourite away game ever.

What a night. Whenever I hear The Liquidator it reminds me of that night and I can't resist giving punching the air and shouting "BURNLEY!"

That was one of my all time favourite away games. Went down on the train and stayed over in London. Great game, result and atmosphere

Great night and result, got 2 days off school for it. Let's not forget Chelsea were down to 10 men also though.

They were, I can't remember the player for certain but it may have been Di Santo went off injured when all 3 subs had been made.

Ah, I thought you meant they had a man sent off. You’re right they were.

What a night.

Drogba throwing the coins back is often forgotten. There were loads thrown at him. Vividly remember him throwing one back and then standing there with middle finger raised.

Mental night.

Thanks for posting this RW a magical night alright as people have said we weren’t given a chance but we won and went through.

Funny that as many people went as they did including me but as the game came nearer the more I somehow fancied that we would do well.

Ten years well they do say that if you think the time has gone quickly then you must have enjoyed yourself.

I didn’t make this match. For some strange reason, Lady Beamish thought that it was more important for me to attend the 12 Week Scan of our first born child that day.

What a great night. The best in terms of football.

The atmosphere between fans that night, that season was superb. I felt we were as one at all times. So much different nowadays.

We had Caldwell sent off so it was even. Fair enough, that happened right at the end of extra time but that's just a minor detail.

Some great memories under Coyle.

I wonder if he's applied for the Director of football job? Bring back the excitement we had then.
