Alphabetical teams - which one`s the best?
Geez...must be bored!
Can we create Claret teams from A-Z where the starting 11 either have first names OR family names beginning with the respective letter (Peter Zelem will captain the Zs!!!!)???
As anyone?
An anti-dementia thread.

Add Andrew Cole, Alan Lee and Adrian Heath to the growing list of strikers. Central midfield pairing of Alan Harper and Adrian Randall. Scott Arfield and Ashley Hoskin wide.
Albert Pickering, Gordon Armstrong, Tony Arins, Adam Legzdins
..........this is going to be much harder at Q,V,X and Z

Re: Alphabetical teams - which one`s the best?
Can we 'ave 'Arry Potts?
Re: Alphabetical teams - which one`s the best?
If we take the championship winning sides as a base, then from 1960 we have Adam Blacklaw in goal, John Angus (right) and Alex Elder (left) at full back, and Jimmy Adamson in midfield.
And from 1914, Joe Anderson at centre forward and Alf Basnett as a defensive midfielder.
And from the 1947 cup final, unfortunately it's more defenders - Arthur Woodruff right back, and Reg Attwell right half. Alan Brown at centre half would be a cert for inclusion.

Not happy about using Christian names so here’s an X1 on surnames:
............................Ted Adams..............
John Angus...Jimmy Adamson...Russell Anderson..Jock Aird
Reg Attwell...Graham Alexander...Gordon Armstrong...Scott Arfield
...............Charlie Austin.......Ade Akinbiyi...............
Mick Buxton on the wrong side but these would give many a good game.

Mick Buxton...Alan Brown...Colin Blant...Ian Brennan
George Bray...Joey Barton...Ian Britton...Robbie Blake

I hope the players can motivate themselves, because Steve Cotterill will have to be the manager. At least, the other options are Frank Casper (presumably as player-manager), Tommy Cavanagh, or - what was that Scotsman callled again?FCBurnley wrote:Surnames it is. This C team would be pretty decent

..............surely this will be the first and only time we'll ever hear the phrase "Peter Zelem - first name on the team sheet" - I'd even fancy Zavon Hines chances of getting a game.

Ted Adams makes his second appearance and an over abundance of wingers, 5 of the front 6. Also impossible to do on surnames alone. Not the best defence you’d ever see even with the truly great Alex Elder in it.

Not a complete list as Eric Potts isn’t on it. The new Chronicle will be the future template but handy enough.
