I’d never heard of her but she’s apparently the global president of Animal Planet

I suppose the role doesn’t necessarily need someone with an interest in football but it looks a strange appointment

In the Telegraph (no not the Blackbum Telegraph) it says.....
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, Leicester chief executive Susan Whelan and Burnley chairman Mike Garlick led the lengthy recruitment process to find Dinnage.

At least he was a football fan - was a director at Portsmouth at one time.

Get the feeling from reading up on her that it is based on her skill of growing a company. With all the clubs wanting more money she may be perfect in growing the brand.

And they will certainly be wanting more money.

Oh for sure. If she does anything close to what she achieved with Discovery then I think clubs will be rubbing their hands

Also, it's fairly telling that they've picked someone from the world of media/TV. That's clearly, and you can understand why, where they think the money is coming from.

Even with Domestic income falling the next cycle is expected to be 20% greater than the current as a result of the international sales - which explains the re-carving of that element as it is currently equal share - likely that some clubs will earn £170m just from Premier League TV with the bottom club breaking £100m

The bottom club breaks £100 million now but the bigger clubs are pushing harder and harder for more of the cash. They've got a better deal now with the international sales but it will continue to enable them to get even bigger.

I don’t think Scudamore had a history in football before he got involved in the Football League then Premier League.

This appointment is about marketing a product so no need for in depth football knowledge

From Wiki -

"Prior to his career in football, Scudamore worked for ten years in the newspaper industry, mainly for Thomson.[3] He joined them as group advertising director, but went on to spend his last three years with the Thomson Corporation in the United States as senior vice president responsible for all their newspaper operations in the southern and eastern U.S. He also managed all advertising, sales and marketing activity for the entire company. This assignment followed a number of general management roles within Thomson, covering a range of media"

He wasn't employed for his football knowledge, it was about expanding a brand which he did beyond all original expectations.

Fred is still live on ITV regional prog, in the south, each evening! Looks much the same as he has for about 40 years!
